Drama Digest
This drama is straight up yet another adaption of the famous Taiwanese folklore but this time just with elements of more sweetness between the characters, and texture of new style. The presentation technique of the story is still same as it is followed up from the very first adaption that was taken and made in 1992.
The Feel-Good Part
The good part of this drama is that even while being made in today’s time, the actual story is not modified in anyway. As it’s a historical drama, what makes it worth watching is the fact it includes elements of every genre like action, adventure, romance, martial arts, and fantasy. All of it can be seen in the drama in equal amount the story is well–presented.
The Disappointing Factor
Even though this drama has just aired a month ago and even after having every element of the genre, this drama lacks in grasping audience attention, and the animated factor that is shown are bit over to the top.
In-depth Analysis
It’s a story that revolves around a 1000 years old spirit that transforms into a human force beautiful women, to be specific, where her name is Bai Su Zhen, and she falls in love with an ordinary mortal Xu Xian. This drama is one-time light mood type drama. Those who fantasize about the “white snake folklore” might like it as although it’s again a remake (that too the 4th or 5th one), each one has its different perspective, view, and style, and the same goes for this one too. The plot is inter-operating that as Bai Su Zhen came into human form to settle some work of hers, she meets the guy who saved her in the past named Xu Xian and ends up getting married to some monk. The beautiful part of the plot is its fighting, the sweet moments shared by both lead and a lesson learning ends.
Star Power
The performance of the central, as well as supporting actors too, is appreciable. They understood the depth of characters of the old famous Chinese folklore. However, comparing it all the previous dramas that were made on the same legend, the chemistry of these two leads has the sparks that the audience can feel while watching.
Overall Opinion
Overall, this drama is one time worth watching, but it’s not something you will like to watch again as it’s mainly a historical-based one. Although folklore lovers might like it, those who prefer the rom-com type genre drama, this one is not for them.
