Drama Digest

“Love between fairy and devil” is a Chinese fantasy drama released in 2022. It tells the story of a young girl from the Po Xin tribe that was destroyed by the Demon Lord named Dongfang Qincang. Ten thousand years later, she was reborn as an immortal named Xiao Lanhua. Unknowingly, Lan Hua revived her enemy Dongfang, who was trapped in the Hao Tian tower. After reviving, Dongfang now wants to regain his complete freedom by sacrificing Xiao Lan Hua’s soul. It will unleash the curse from his body. But in that process, he falls in love with the young fairy.

The Feel-Good Part

The show is an outstanding display of the forbidden love between a devil and a fairy. The story is interesting and easy to understand. Every character has their own background story, and the show does not completely revolve around the main characters. All the side characters had their share of screen time that showed their growing personalities. It also has a good blend of humor with romance. As a typical Xianxia drama, the visuals and portrayal of the fantasy world set this show apart from the existing ones. The graphics and CGI are incredibly smooth. They handle every detail of the show with extreme care, either costumes or background. It delivers an important message that shows how the human heart can heal and recover pain from a traumatic past and that love has no boundaries or status. The OSTs and the art of the soundtrack were stunning and worth looking at.

The Disappointing Factor

The only disappointing factor about the show is that the ending is a little rushed.

In-Depth Analysis

Dongfang Qingcang, who belongs to the moon tribe, had a goal of obtaining immense power. While doing so, he became an emotionless monster. He led an army of 100000 moon tribe soldiers. He even killed his father to seize the position of moon supreme. The immortal fairy realm called Shuiyuntian, the moon tribe-Cangyan sea, and the mortal world called the Yunmeng Lake were in great danger. To save the world from Dongfang Qingcang’s tremor, the first God of Shuiyuntian demolished her primordial spirit. The army and Dongfang’s primordial spirit were sealed while she locked away his body in the Hao Tian tower under the Hao Tian Matrix’s immortal bonds. But if the primordial spirit was restored and his body was set free from the tower, the world will be in danger once again. As per the records, the goddess of Xishan could prevent this catastrophe, but she disappeared and left no trace.  300,000 years later, the Hao Tian Matrix was disrupted. A young fairy, in an attempt to help the new God of War reinforce the matrix, accidentally gets inside the Hai Tian tower and stands before the moon supreme himself. It follows a series of events, putting the world in danger once again. But the fate of the world changes as the demon lord starts falling for the young fairy.

Star Power

Yu Shuxin, who played Xiao Lan Hua, did an outstanding performance. Although her character is of the “damsel in distress” kind, she pulls it off effortlessly. She radiates different energy in different situations which fits perfectly for all the scenes. Dylan Wang has shown great improvement in this show compared to the previous ones. He did a great job portraying all the changes in emotions in the demon lord. The chemistry between the two actors was amazing and fit well with the story. The supporting characters also performed their roles well and in a balanced way.

Overall Opinion

If you are a fan of Xianxia drama, this one is a must-watch. It is one of the best of a kind. It will keep you hooked and craving for more. This is a work of pure romance and won’t disappoint you.
