Drama Digest

The drama depicts the lives of two women, Shen Yu and Gu Xiaowei, who both fall in love with the same man, Hua Weilin. Hua Weilin is a gifted artist, but due to familial circumstances, he was compelled to leave the Academy of Fine Arts and forfeit his potential for further education. Visit society. Hua Wei Lin’s difficult life path has always influenced the hearts of these two women-Shen Yu perseveres, despite her parents’ objections to marrying him and starting a family, no matter how difficult life is, with no regrets. Gu Xiaowei closed the door of sentiments and began his own business, but through economic success, he quietly aided the hard-won family of Shen Yu and Hua Weilin year after year, until they formed a strong foundation. Make a better life for yourself. And Gu Xiaowei’s emotional troubles have always gotten on Hua Weilin and Shen Yu’s nerves. They did everything they could to assist Gu Xiaowei to find the other half of existence and finally reached out, knocking her frozen heart and teaching her to let go. Love, in the end, assisted her in finding her own happiness.

The Feel-Good Part

The show does not adhere to a single genre, alternating between a darker mystery and a love drama. Some viewers may find this puzzling, but overall, the way the story unfolds somehow works out. The best part about the show is that it is led by two amazing women. Both female leads had terrific chemistry, with Li Qin and Yao Di putting forth excellent performances. Overall, I think the performers did a good job of making their characters interesting enough to make this drama worth watching. You try to root for both the female leads alternatively. Sometimes you feel bad for Shen Yu (Yao Di) and sometimes you feel bad for Gu Xiaowei (Li Qin). You also get annoyed and frustrated by their actions. Yet, you still want to follow their story. There is a certain beauty this series holds. An unlikely friendship filled with surprising affection. A bittersweet one-sided love. All of these elements make the story very attractive.

The Disappointing Factor

Although the two main female leads made the whole storyline feel more captivating, the plot itself is quite flawed. Any love triangle plot is already tried and tested and the whole concept is just repetitive and tiring. It is just sad to see two individuals pine after a certain person so wholeheartedly that they sacrifice their own persona in the end. I mean we want to see character growth, to see them achieve their happiness on their own. Basing your happiness off of someone else or their actions is just not the right message to be sending. Even the plot progression in this series is slightly confusing. The transition from one phase of the characters’ lives to the other is a little unnatural and forced.

In-Depth Analysis

“From Love to Happiness” is not a bad series but it is not that great either. The overall story is slightly dark and gloomy but has an overall melancholy that may be appealing to certain viewers. The concept of the story although cliche and overused is also something that works. The character interactions give off a mixed feeling, sometimes they feel really genuine otherwise they come across as really superficial and petty. Yet, the art direction and casting were not bad. The subtle details in the cinematography and set design were really beautiful and made the story come alive.

Star Power

The two leading actresses who literally ran the whole show were Li Qin as Gu Xiao Wei and Yao Di as Shen Yu. Li Qin, also known as Sweet Li, is a Chinese singer and actor. Among her many credits are roles in the 2012 drama “The Watchful Sky,” the 2014 romantic drama “If I Love You,” and the 2019 aviation disaster picture “The Captain.” Her portrayal of her character was absolutely perfect. Gu Xiao Wei as a character could have easily turned into a petty and embittered shell of a person. It was Li Qin who brought in so much depth that Xiao Wei could be seen as a passionate and lion-spirited woman. Even Yao Di was a stunner in the role of Shen Yu. After graduating from the Beijing Film Academy’s Performing Department in 2001, Yao Di eventually gained prominence in 2010 with the horror film ” Midnight Heartbeat “. She is yet another fantastic actress who has been in a number of well-known films and television shows.

Overall Opinion

Overall, “From Love to Happiness” is a slow watch and can get frustrating at times. Yet, it has its redeeming moments. Moreover, some of the scenes are actually tear-jerking and can leave a lasting impression.
