Drama Digest
“Fall in Love in the book” is a short Chinese drama released in 2022. It is a romance drama that revolves around the two main characters Jiang Guo Guo and Gu Yan Liang. It is a fantasy plot where Jiang Guo Guo enters a fantasy novel and becomes a character from it. The story goes on as she is now part of the novel’s plot and has to decide on a proper ending.
The Feel-Good Part
The best factor of the show is the happy ending because after all, everyone enjoys a happy ending. The idea of falling in love with the villain of the story is heartwarming and will make you feel fuzzy all over. It was interesting enough with all the twists and turns in the plot. The show has a unique ending in which the villains find happiness and the evil character turns into a decent one.
The Disappointing Factor
Many plot holes in the story will leave you wondering and make it confusing. The low budget for the show is also another disappointing factor. With a high budget, the show could have flourished more.
In-Depth Analysis
Jiang Guo Guo is an author by profession. She is cute but doubtful. She publishes novels but they are all unsellable. Because of circumstances, she enters a popular novel by Mary Sue and becomes the female support character in the story. The ending of the novel included her getting drunk and drowning. To avoid that ending, she changed the story by behaving well with the other characters, and by being kind to them, instead of playing tricks. But she falls in love with the villain of the book, Gu Yan Liang and her story ends with happiness.
Star Power
Compare to the budget of the film, the female lead character played by Zhou Cheng Yi deserves a higher one. She did an outstanding performance with her expressions and can get more recognition. The male lead’s performance comparatively was not good enough and his acting was stiff and unmatched with the scenes. But Guo Yi Kang’s charming appearance saved it.
Overall Opinion
The show is entertaining and has an excellent storyline. It is short and can be watched anytime and finished in one sitting. The plot twists and happy ending of the show make it worth watching.
