This is a Chinese drama starring the infamous Chinese actor Ren Jia Lun also known as Allen Ren. Allen Ren plays the role of a firefighter- Li Xi Cheng, who becomes aware of the harsh reality of firefighters only after joining the team.
The Feel-Good Factor
The series takes us through a roller coaster ride of feelings such as happiness, hard work, sacrifice, love, friendship, etc. The bromance between the main lead Xi Cheng and his fellow firefighters is also worth watching. It can also be called a career-oriented drama as it takes us through the day-to-day life story of a firefighter.
The Disappointing Factor
Even though the series had a strong start, it withered towards the end. The bromance between the men of the firefighting team was heart-warming to watch, but as soon as the romance between Xi Cheng and Wen Yi Bing started, it became a bit boring. The female lead couldn’t portray her emotions well, which paved the way for a failed love story. Even the writers seem to have written the female lead poorly. Also, instead of focusing on the main story, the series uses a lot of fillers, such as random scenes happening at random intervals and a lacking portrayal of emotions during sensitive settings.
In-Depth Analysis
The name of this series is Lan Yan Tu Ji which translates in English as “Blue flame assault.” The character Li Xi Cheng played by Allen Ren, plays the character of a good-looking person who works as a delivery boy for his mother’s restaurant. He likes to ride bicycles and makes all his deliveries by bicycle. One fine day, while he was delivering a required parcel to a hotel, a fire breaks out suddenly in the entire hotel, causing immense havoc. As a solution to this situation, Xi Cheng instinctively finds out ways to escape the fire and ends up rescuing everyone safely. Even though the firefighter squad arrives at the location, they are impressed by Xi Cheng’s rescue act. Even though he has no plans of joining the firefighting squad, the chief of the firefighting squad compels him to join the squad on seeing his athletism and agility. The chief believes that his personality could prove helpful for the squad. Xi Cheng hesitates at first but accepts the offer later and joins the firefighting squad. Though it looks easy at first, Xi Cheng soon becomes aware of the harsh practices that a firefighter has to go through. He becomes a part of a completely new firefighting squad who have to train from scratch. The chief arranges special training for the team of recruits for them to become an elite group. And after going through a lot of ups and downs and incidents like chemical leaks, warehouse fires, multiple explosions, and car accidents, all the members of the new squad become close friends with one another. Li Xi Cheng also has a romantic interest in the show in the form of Chen xiao Yun as Wen Yi Bing, another fellow firefighter of him.
Star Power
Allen Ren, as Li Xi Cheng, is the show’s main star due to his acting skills, looks, and his way of character portrayal. We can say that he, along with a very few supporting actors, single-handedly carried the show.
Overall Opinion
In short, it was a disappointing series because of how the plot turned out and how the story progressed. But it gives us an insight into the valuable lives of heroes like firefighters, who are few of the many heroes that risk their own lives to protect ours.
