Biography: Jarunee Suksawat

Jarunee Suksawat (born 12th February 1962), nicknamed “Ple,” is a Thai actress, model, and businesswoman of French and Thai ancestry. Caroline Desneiges (French) is another name for her. The media dubbed her “Thailand’s Action Queen.” Jarunee is best remembered for her roles in action films from the 1970s and 1980s.

Jarunee completed secondary school at Bangkapi. She then pursued a vocational course at “Chao Phaya Commercial” before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from “Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.” She also acquired a Master’s degree in Cosmetic Sciences from the prestigious “Maefah Luang University” in Chiang Rai, Thailand.

Jarunee comes from a poor family. She was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. Her granny was her only caretaker. Her father, Ferdinand Desneiges, was French, and her mother, Rabiab Suksawat, was Thai. Desneiges had no idea he was her father until around 2000. They met him just before his death.
Jarunee appeared in hundreds of films. She was dubbed the “action movie queen” despite having no martial arts training. She debuted as a film actress in 1977. Jarunee firstly appeared in “Sawasdee Khun Kroo” and then in “Rak Laew Raw Noi.” She worked with famous actor Sorapong Chatree in her movies. She is Promsin Sibunruang’s disciple. In 1980, she starred in Ruj Ronnapop’s drama film “Baan Sai Thong.” She later appeared in the sequel of the film “Pojjaman Sawangwong.” She received her big break in the movie. Previously, she spoke about her tomboyish image. She quit acting in the mid-1980s after being injured on set. But, she occasionally returned to Nonzee Nimibutr’s 2008 film “Queens of Langkasuka,” her first role in ten years. She had previously turned down several offers and found it challenging to return to filming.

The “World Film Festival of Bangkok” presented her with the “Lotus Award” for her lifetime achievement in 2013. She accepted the name “Golden Star 1980” by popular vote for the film “Mekhala Queen of Thai” in 2014. Jarunee is the owner of “Thaidham Alliance,” a company that sells alternative health and beauty products. She served on the “International Federation of Societies” of Cosmetic Chemists’ steering committee for their 2011 conference.
Jarunee worked in various drama series like “So Sanaeha” (2017), “Poot Pitsawat” (2019), “Tayat Pan Kao Nieow” (2021), “Por Mod Jao Sanae” (2018), “Sed Thee Teen Plao” (2020), and “Payak Rai Sai Lub” (2019).”
