Biography: Shouta Aoi

Shouta Aoi is a Japanese stage actor, singer, and voice actor. He is known for his soft, high-pitched voice and androgyne looks, which allows him to play the roles of female characters as well. His well-acknowledged works are Devils Line (2018), My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! (2020), and Shounen Hollywood (2014).

Showta was born on August 11, 1987, in Fukui Prefecture, Japan. His birth name was Noboru Yanagawa. He has one sibling, an elder sister. He went to a prestigious school in Japan and had a keen interest in playing tennis, because of which he won numerous awards in that field. His life at school was not a cakewalk due to his feminine voice as he was bullied throughout his whole journey. During his teen years, he won the Grand Prix for the Tokai, Ibaraki region. His debut song was “Negaiboshi,” which was released in 2006 and attained vast response from the audience. It charted at #119 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart.

Later, he released several songs for instance Trans-winter (Fuyu no Mukōgawa), Hito Shizuku, Kimi ni, Kaze ga Fukimasu You ni, Haru na no ni, and also released his first album named Eve, on March 5, 2008, which gained tremendous response and was charted at #115 on the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart. Besides singing, he was also intrigued by acting and made his first debut as Saki Hanajima in the Fruits Basket stage play adaptation. He had lent his voice to dozens of characters for popular anime series like Kimi to Boku and Shonen Hollywood.

Further, In 2010, Aoi left King Records, because of his desire to become a voice actor and theme song performer. He started releasing music and performing independently under the name Noboru Ryugaki. Therefore, soon he was seen in the song “Oji-sama to Cheek” on Kenzo Saeki and Boogie the Mach Motors’ collaboration album, 21-Seiki-san sings Harlmens. So, he began releasing his songs and continued this for a long time.

Some of his workpieces are; Innocent, DDD, Flower, eclipse, Tone, and many more are there. He released his second album titled Zero, which received an enormous response from the viewers and sold 11,361 copies within its first week. Aoi also landed some commercials, like CyberStep Toreba 2D, and Lotte’s Lady Borden ice cream. He has been an inspiration to all unique people out there who are struggling in their life currently.
