Recently there has been a rapid rise in the trends of watching Asia originated dramas and movies. Korean and Chinese entertainment industries have already created a massive fanbase, and Thai cinematography has been slowly gaining more spectators. Follow this article to know about some of Thailand’s newly rising actors.

1. Gulf Kanawut

Gulf Kanawut, born Kanawut Traipipattanapong, is a Thai actor best known for his role as “Type” in “TharnType: The Series”. TharnType is an extremely popular Thai BL show and was what won Gulf the award for the “Rising Star” of the year at the Kazz Awards, 2020. Since the actor had been cast in TharnType, there has been an increase in the index of his fanbase.

 

2. Bright

Vachirawit Chivaaree, stage name, Bright, was born to a Thai-American father and a Thai-Chinese mother. Although he made his debut in the year 2013, Bright reached newfound fame after his role in the hit series, “2gether”. The show had won the “Favourite Series of The Year” at the Maya Awards, 2020, as well as the “Best TV Series” at the Fever Awards, 2020.

 

3. Zee

Pruk Panich, popularly known as “Zee”, is a Thai actor-model. He is best known for his roles in “Why R U”. The show was a huge success throughout the country and brought the actor a lot of fame from the international spectators.

 

4. Pond

Naravit Lertratkosum, is an actor signed under GMMTV. He is famously known by his nickname Pond and is studying Biochemical engineering at King Mongkut’s Institue of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok University. The pond is a relatively new actor and has starred in only one show as the main actor, but even that, was enough to put Pond on new levels of fame.

 

5. Mix

Sahaphap Wongratch (nicknamed Mix) has been increasingly popular thanks to his resemblance to the BTS member, Jin. Just like Jin, Sahaphap Wongratch is also a member of a boy band. The mix is a part of the body band Cute Chef Thailand. He is still a student at Chulalongkorn University, studying veterinary medicine. The mix is a rookie actor and only debuted in 2020 in the hit series “A Tale of A Thousand Stars”.

 

6. Paris Intarakomalyasut

Popularly known as, Ice, Paris Intarakomalyasut is a Thai actor and singer. He is of British descent. Ice is currently enrolled at Chulalongkorn University under the Faculty of Communication Arts. Before this, he was a student at the New Sathorn International School. Ice comes from a family of Thai politicians and diplomats. He has also been a part of the project group 9x9 (NineByNine) as one of the singers. Ice first debuted in the year 2017, as a supporting character in the "Project S: The Series". In 2018, he starred for the first time as the main lead in the show “Nee Sanaeha”. He became even more popular after his spectacular role in the LINE TV hit series “Bad Genius: The Series”.

 

7. Win

Metawin Opas-iamkajorn, otherwise known as Win, is a rookie Thai actor known for his lead role in “2gether: The Series” as Tine. The show was Win’s debut stage yet it made Win internationally famous. Currently, Win is studying economics at Thammasat University.

 

8. Jimmy

Karn Kritsanaphan, a stage named Jimmy, is an actor who made his debut in the series “Why R U” as one of the main leads. He is currently a student at Kasetsart Univerisity studying under the Faculty of Humanities, majoring in English.

 

9. Ryu

Vachirawich Aranthanawong, professionally known as Ryu, is a Thai singer, table tennis player, and actor. Ryu was a member of 9x9 (NineByNine). He was a vocalist and rapper. The actor is a professional table tennis player and has played on the national team as well. Ryu made his acting debut in 2018 with the show “In Family We Trust” as the main lead.

 

10. Luke Ishikawa Plowden

Luke Ishikawa Plowden, nicknamed “Luke Voyage”, is a Japanese-American model currently working as an actor in the Thail entertainment industry. He was born in Japan but grew up in America. He started his acting career in 2019 as a supporting cast in the TV series “Wolf”. Recently, Luke was cast as the main lead in the Thai series “Oh My Boss” (2021).
