The Korean entertainment industry always recognizes outstanding creations and performances. Hence the Blue Dragon Film Awards, the highest National Film Award in South Korea, is presented to actors and directors to celebrate their talents. The Sports Chosun presents this accolade to the blockbuster hits and popular entertainment of the previous year. 

Here are 10 Korean Actors who have Won this National Award in the Best Actor category:

1. Choi Min Sik

Choi Min Sik has won three 'Blue Dragon Film Awards for the Best Actor category. In 2012, it was for the movie "Nameless Gangster;" in 2003, it was "Oldboy;" and in 2001, it was "Failan." He was also nominated in this category in 2004 and 2014 for other exceptional projects but didn't win the award.

 

2. Moon Sung-Keun

Veteran actor and political figure Moon Sung-Keun earned three 'Blue Dragon Film Awards' on three different occasions. He received the awards in 1992, 1994, 1996 for "The Road to Racetrack," " To You From Me," and "A Petal," respectively.

 

3. Song Kang-Ho

Kang-ho has managed three National awards in the Best Actor category for his stellar performances- "A Taxi Driver( 2017)," "The Attorney (2014)," and "The Show Must Go On(2007)." He was also nominated in 2019 for his performance in the Oscar-winning movie "Parasite" but did not win.

 

4. Ahn Sung-Ki

Ahn Sung-ki received the Best Actor Award in 1990 for his performance in "North Korea's southern army." Sixteen years later, he received the award again for his role in the 2006 film "Radio Star." Sung-ki depicted excellent acting prowess that captivated his audience and the critics.

 

5. Choi Moo Ryong

Choi Moo Ryong was a famous face in the Korean film industry in the early '60s and '70s. He had received several national accolades, including a special lifetime achievement award. He received the Best Actor Award in 1965 for "The North and South. " In 1971, he won another one for "A Bout in 30 Years."

 

6. Hwang Jung-Min

Veteran actor Hwang Jung-min has starred in several big-budget movies, becoming instant box-office hits. He won the 'Blue Dragon Film Awards in the Best Actor Category in 2005 and 2013 for "You Are My Sunshine" and "New World," respectively. Apart from the two Best Actor Awards, he has also won several accolades for playing the supporting character in blockbuster movies.

 

7. Kim Yoon-Seok

Yoon-Seok began his career as a theatre artist while performing minor supporting roles in movies. He won the Best Actor Award for his exceptional accomplishments in "The Chaser(2008)" and "1987: When the Day Comes(2018)."

 

8. Sol Kyung-Gu

Veteran actor Sol Kyung-gu rose to fame after his roles in "Peppermint Candy" and "Public Enemy." These performances helped him earn the Blue Dragon Awards in the Best Actor Category in 2000 and 2002. These movies are classic in their respective genre, thus promoting Kyung-gu's reputation as an outstanding actor. 

 

9. Park Joong-Hoon

Park Joong-Hoon had a diverse career in the movie industry. Apart from being invested in acting, he tried his hand at filmography and appeared and hosted several talk shows and variety shows. He won his first Best Actor Award in 1994 for "The Rules of the Game" and a second one 12 years later for "Radio Star."

 

10. Park No-Sik

Park No-Sik ruled the Korean film industry in the '70s. In 1979 he received the Best Actor Award for "A Returned Man of Korea." Again in 1972, he received recognition for his outstanding performance in "The Cattle Seller". He died in 1995 of an infectious disease.
