Survival shows plays a huge part in the K-Pop industry to launch many loved artists. It has become a gateway for idols to showcase the talents and let the netizens decide who they want to see debut. Many idols get to debut and maximum trainees don't. However, that is not the end. Many idols  manage to succeed without debuting in survival show groups and make a name for themselves. Here are ten talented K-Pop idols that got evicted from survival shows but still succeeded:

1. Soyeon 

Soyeon is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Soyeon is a massive name in the industry after her recent comeback with “TOMBOY” and “NUDE.” But before that she participated in Produce 101 season 1 in 2016. She gained huge attention with her audition and rap skills. Despite this, the multitalented artist wasn't selected for the final lineup. In 2018. she debuted as the leader, main rapper, and producer of (G)-Idle.

 

2. Somi 

Somi gained attention when she competed in the famous show SIXTEEN in 2015. She was loved a lot  but failed to debut as she was still too young. In 2016, she participated in the show Produce 101, secured the first spot, and debuted as the center, lead dancer, and rapper of I.O.I. After the group's dissolution, she debuted as a solo idol in 2018 with her single “Birthday.”

 

3. Haknyeon 

Haknyeon is a Jeju-born Korean idol who debuted in the very loved group THE BOYZ in 2017. Before debuting in the boyz, Haknyeon participated in the survival show Produce 101 season 2 in 2016. As a talented artist, he ranked 19th and unfortunately failed to debut with the final lineup.

 

4. Chaeyeon 

Chaeyeon started her career by participating in the 3rd season of K-Pop Star with her sister. Unfortunately both got eliminated from the show. She again participated in the 2015 show SIXTEEN along with her sister. She unfortunately got eliminated and placed last in the show. She, later on, competed in the 3rdseason of Produce 48, and ranked 12th securing her place in the final lineup, and debuted with IZ*ONE.

 

5. Yunjin 

Yunjin is a South Korean-American singer, songwriter, and producer. Yunjin first gained attention after competing in Produce 48 in 2018. She was loved by all for her excellent dance and singing skills. She ranked 24th in the show and didn’t debut with the final lineup. In 2022, Yunjin debuted with LE SSERAFIM.

 

6. Jang Gyuri 

Jang Gyuri started her career as an actress by starring in “Mr. Perfect” before becoming a trainee. After that, she competed in the show Idol School, in 2017. She placed 9th and secured her position in the final lineup of Fromis_9. She competed in produce 48 in 2018 to further improve herself as an idol. She placed 25th and failed to debut with the final lineup. She then returned to her original group, fromis_9.

 

7. Hanbin 

Hanbin is a Vietnamese idol who gained attention after competing in the famous show I-LAND. He stole hearts in the show, and many netizens were upset as he couldn’t make it to the debut line with ENHYPEN. He placed 10th in the show. Hanbin later on debuted as a member of the group TEMPEST in 2022.

 

8. Alexa 

Alexa is an American singer and songwriter based in South Korea. She competed in both seasons of Rising legends. Despite placing first in the dance category and second in the overall category, Alexa didn’t debut. In 2018, she competed in produce 48 and ranked 82nd. She debuted as a solo artist in 2019 and has won many hearts for her fantastic singing.

 

9. Yiren 

Yiren gained popularity among local and international fans with her Chinese beauty in 2018. She competed in the famous show Produce 48, and was known as one of the most beautiful idols. However, after placing 28th, she could not debut with the final lineup. In 2019, Yiren debuted with EVERGLOW.

 

10. Chowon 

Chowon is a multitalented idol who gained popularity after competing in Produce 48. She earned many praises from everyone for her talents in every field. She is a great dancer, rapper, and also a fantastic singer. Chowon placed 13th in the show and missed her chance to debut with a slight difference. In 2021, she debuted as the main vocalist of LIGHTSUM.
