10. BoA

Kwon Bo-ah is multitalented and has multilingual skills, born on November 5, 1986. BoA is the Queen of K-pop as she is one of the most successful Korean entertainers. She has an older sibling. BoA got noticed and offered a contract at an SM entertainment talent audition (when she was eleven), though she was accompanying her brother.  BoA got trained for two years, including lessons in English and Japanese. When she was thirteen, BoA released her debut album named “ID,” “Peace B,” which took 10th  place in the Korean charts. BoA then released many Korean albums and even Japanese albums. BoA also gained popularity in most of East Asia, including Singapore and Taiwan. She has also been in numerous films and plays. Perform television series such as Food Diary and Master of the House. BoA carried out concert tours in Japan and Asia.

 

9. Irene

Irene(Korean name is Bae Joo-hyun) was born on March 29, 1991. Irene has a younger sibling. Irene debuted as a part of SM Entertainment's training team, the SM Rookies. Irene is a rapper and the leader of the Korean girl group Red Velvet. Red Velvet has its own sub-unit (Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi) which includes Irene and another member, Seulgi, of Red Velvet. She played the lead role in the film Double Patty in 2021 and was also a part of the television series Descendants of the Sun.

 

8. Sun-Mi

Lee Sun-mi was born on May 2, 1992, and became the South Korean Girl Group “Wonder Girls” member in 2007. She left the Wonder Girls group to pursue an academic career, and after that, Sunmi debuted in 2013 as a soloist and released two singles, “24 hours” and “Full Moon.” Recently, Sunmi revealed that when she was 12, she got inspired by BoA. She became a trainee at JYP Entertainment at the age of 14. Sunmi won the Artist of the Year and Best Music Award in 2018 at the Asian Artist Awards ceremony.

 

7. Momo

Momo Hirai was born on November 9, 1996; she is a member of Girl Group Twice (JYP Entertainment). Momo has an older sibling. She is a Japanese-South Korean-based dancer. Momo was named the tenth most popular female K-pop star in a 2019 study of South Korean troops performing required military duty. Before her debut with Twice, Momo danced in several music videos as a “K-Pop trainee.” Momo did a television show “Sixteen” in 2015.

 

6. Jisoo

Kim Ji-soo was born on January 3, 1995, and she is the oldest member of the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK. When she was a child, she took taekwondo (Korean martial art) classes and played basketball. Jisoo has two older siblings and was also a fan of TVXQ as a child. Jisoo appeared in Arthadal Chronicles, a tvN fantasy drama. Now she got fixed for her lead role in the upcoming drama Snowdrop (JTBC). Jisoo learned to speak English, Chinese and Japanese. Jisoo won the Starlight Hall of Fame in 2021 at the Weibo Starlight Awards.

 

5. Taeyeon

Kim Tae-yeon, born on March 9, 1989, is a South Korean singer and member of the worldwide popular girl group Girls’ Generation. Taeyeon has an older sibling and a younger sibling. Taeyeon was trained and debuted as a member of the Girls’ Generation under SM Entertainment in 2007, which became a famous girl group worldwide. Taeyeon’s “What Do I Call You” was her fourth EP (extended play) in Korean in 2020 and performed at the SMTOWN Live Culture Humanity concert on January 1, 2021, shown on YouTube. She also made her Japanese debut and released albums. Taeyeon won the Best Vocal Award in 2017 and 2018. She has won 39 awards and was nominated 136 times.

 

4. Lisa

Lisa is a Thai rapper, and her full name is Lalisa Manoban. She was born on March 27, 1997. She is not Korean, but a dancer and rapper based on the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK. She can speak many languages fluently (Thai, English, Korean),  with basic Japanese and Chinese. Lisa participated as a dance mentor for the female group (iQIY’s Chinese show) in 2020 and returned in 2021 for the Chinese boy group’s survival. Lisa won the most popular person of the year in 2018 and 2019 and was an inspirational role model for young people in 2021.

 

3. IU

IU means you, and I became one via music. Her Korean name is Lee Ji-eun. She was born on May 16, 1993. In 2007, as a trainee, IU signed with Kakao Entertainment and released her first mini-album in 2008. IU also released a theme song for the historical drama "Road No. 1". She released two singles, "Good Day" and "You & I," in Japan, making fifth and eleventh places on the Billboard and Japan hot 100, respectively. IU performed many concerts in South Korea, China, Japan, and many more. She has acted in many films, like Dream High, My Mister, Persona, and Hotel Del Luna, in which "Hotel Del Luna" (2019) is a famous film in South Korea and popular in South Asia.

 

2. Rosé

Roseanne Park was born on February 11, 1997, in New Zealand but raised in Australia. She was trained for four years by YG Entertainment. Rosé made her debut in August 2016 as the vocalist and dancer for BLACKPINK. Recently, Rosé released her solo single album ‘R.’ Rosé broke the record of Psy, and currently holds the record as the most viewed soloist video in South Korea within 24 hours.  Rosé’s famous songs are “On the Ground” and “Gone,” making many records. Rosé was named the inspiration for the premium cosmetics brand Yves Saint Laurent Beauté in 2021.

Jennie Kim, born on January 16, 1996, is a rapper from BLACKPINK under YG Entertainment. Jennie studied in New Zealand at Waikowhai Intermediate School when she was nine, with her family staying there. She had the idea of becoming a ballet dancer and heard of K-pop and moved back to South Korea in 2010. Jennie appeared on Running Man with Jisoo in 2018 and became viral and famous on social media. She also joined in a new variety show, SBS Village Survival, The Eight. Jennie made her first single solo debut, "Solo" in November 2018, having crossed 700 million views on YouTube. Instagram, the popular social media, awarded Jennie for the "Most loved account of 2018". Jennie won for her single solo album at the Gaon Chart Music Awards in 2019 and the Golden Disc Awards for Best Digital Song "Solo" in 2020. Jennie got appointed as one of the fashion editors for the March edition of Vogue Korea in February 2021.
