The rising awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ community meant the rise of BL shows and movies all around the world, but not everyone has accepted this community of people. Several popular BL actors have been in large controversies because of various reasons ranging from their personal life choices to words that they have said in interviews and also their past. The actors who are most controversial and the reason for this controversy are written below.
1. Mew Suppasit
On his show “What the duck” Mew Suppasit starred with Puwanai Sangwan. The actors grew close to each other in the safe house and grew even closer while they were shooting the show. Several clips of the actors being cosy in the safe house and during promotions flooded social media and fans started shipping them. Later, a video of Puwanai was released saying that Mew sexually harassed him and fans took to Twitter to attack Mew.
2. Build Jakapan
Puttha Build recently starred in a Thai BL called KinnPorsche as Pete. As the show started gaining popularity, the actors also became popular and so did Build. People began digging up things from his past and took out years-old comments that he had made about Rape and started trolling him. He had to post a public apology letter stating that he was not aware enough when he made the comment and would not do it again.
3. Johnny Huang
Johnny Huang is a popular Chinese BL actor. He is majorly known for My Dear Guardian and his most recent drama is Love Designer. Wang Yu Shin, came to social media to say that she and Johnny were married before and had a daughter. She also said they had divorced because he had assaulted her several times when they were together and she went to give proof of their relationship and abuse.
4. Bright Vachirawit
Bright is a very popular Thai BL actor and his most famous series would be 2gether the series, Still 2gether the series and 2gether the movie. He received hate from Chinese netizens in the year 2020. He had retweeted a photographic image that described Hong Kong as a country, with this the Chinese people got angry and trolled him. He was forgiven after he apologised to the people though.
5. Toy Thanapat
Toy Thanapat is a Thai BL actor, popularly known for his role in the series Why RU. He had anger issues. In his house one day, on the second floor, his girlfriend was found brutally stabbed to death. Initially, he tried to tell the police that she stabbed herself and he was trying to stop her from doing that, but he later confessed that in blind rage he himself had stabbed her 21 times which led to her death. The police arrested him there.
6. Korn Kang
Korn Kang is an Actor of Thai origin. He has done several dramas like Secret Seven, The Two Fates, Cross Worlds Hero and others. His Ex-girlfriend accused him of giving her a Sexually Transmitted Disease that was not curable anywhere in the world. She also accused him of cheating on her while they were together to sleep with Transgendered individuals. His management issues a half-apology for this and declared his girlfriend to be a mental patient.
7. Zee Pruk
Zee Pruk is an extremely popular actor in Thailand. He has starred in many shows, his top two being Why RU and Cutie Pie the series. In the BTS video of episode 3, while he was being asked about the NC adult scenes that they had to shoot in Cutie Pie the series, he started joking about them. Fans got offended by this and soon he live-streamed a public apology for the same.
8. Alex Diaz
A Filipino Canadian actor who has starred in several big movies and shows, his most popular BL show being Oh Mando. In 2019, Alex’s fitness trainer exposed his sexuality by posting screenshots of their personal messages where Alex had asked for explicit photographs with consent. Later, he came out as Bi officially and apologised to his fans who supported him by saying that he should not have been forced to come out like this and that it is his personal choice.
9. Joong Archen
Joong Archen is a Thai actor and singer. He is best known for his roles in Star and Sky the series, Mafia the series and 2Moons2 among others. In a Q&A session, Joong was asked if he was and he replied by saying “I’m a man in real life, not gay.” This implied that gay men weren’t men and angered a lot of people all over the world. Later Motive Village company issued an apology and put him on Probation for the comment.
10. Itthipat Thanit
Itthipat Thanit, popularly known as God, is a well-known Thai actor and model. He starred in the first season of 2Moons as Phana. It is alleged that he only took the role of Phana to get famous and that he also gagged after doing a kissing scene with Bas. He did not even come back for season 2 of the show even though his contract said he had to film for three seasons.
