Article: Top 10 Korean Teachers We Had Love To Have As Our Own

We all had teachers whose teachings have stayed with us over the years with their wisdom and experience. They fought for us, motivated us, inspired us, and put us in our rightful place when we needed it. As in most popular Korean dramas, there are many teachers we can admire whose acts of gratitude and empathy can cause our hearts to squeeze with joy, ecstasy, and romance.

Below are the top 10 Korean characters that motivated their students to succeed, deeply cared about their wellbeing, treated them well with respect, and inspire us through their love for them.

1. Kang Se Chan And Jung In Jae–School (2013)

The school (2013) features one of the most famous franchises and iconic teacher tag-teams. Choi Daniel as Kang Se Chan and Jang Nara as Jung In Jae take on a class of rowdy students. These rebellious students neither value education nor lead the simplest of lives. Although the teacher duo faces a challenging task in convincing their students to care, Jung In's faith in her students inspires not only them but Se Chan, who lost faith in his vocation.

2. Yoon Tae Woong – Reply 1997

Adults frequently lead children into courses that they believe are best for them but which, however, are not appreciated by the youngsters. Reply 1997 introduces a teacher (and second romantic interest) who motivates a quirky, somewhat lost girl and her equally lost (and quite hopeless) mates on their way to a successful future. Yoon Tae Woong (Song Jong Ho) is a teacher by necessity, but it does not diminish his authority over his students. He provides them to push they needed to pursue their goals, which is literally like what a teen on the verge of maturity requires from a teacher.

3. Kang Oh Hyuk – Dream High

Uhm Ki Joon stars as Kang Oh Hyuk, a teacher tasked with transforming a group of less-than-stellar arts school prospects into something the administration finds valuable. Fortunately, for the young minds, Oh Hyuk sees them as talents who needed specific shaping and moulding, rather than as a bunch of worthless, good-for-nothings.

4. Yoon Deok Man And Choi Sung Eun – Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

Professor Yoon Deok Man (Choi Moo Sung) challenges his athletes to be the best they can be, but he also understands that life is about more than being the best. Being a successful (or not-so-successful) athlete is not what matters but how much fun you have while doing it.

Choi Sung Eun (Jang Young Nam), his colleague, keeps him on track. She, like Professor Yoon, believes in the capability of her athletes. She makes a few missteps along the road, but she is someone the kids can count on, making her one-half of a great adult duo to look up to and trust.

5. Sun Woo Young - What's Up

Sun Woo Young (Oh Man Seok), a dying alcoholic who grudgingly pulls himself out of his forest retirement to teach college theatre at the insistence of a friend, learns as much as the students he teaches. He begins teaching a class of brilliant, differently driven college students in a haphazard and brusque manner, gradually winning them over despite his inexplicable aversion for performing himself. The more he begins to care for them, the more complicated his advice becomes.

6. Han Soo Jung – Master Of Study

Han Soo Jung (Bae Doona) is a fierce teacher, willing to stand up to the forces to protect her kids. Having the tenacity and willingness to take on any challenge to protect the kids abandoned by other teachers is what makes Soo Jung stand out to troubled teens and inspires them to open up to her.

7. Ha So Hyun - Mr Temporary

Mr Temporary (also known as Class of Lies) star Ha So Hyun (Geum Sae Rok) is one of the top professors in K-drama history. She strikes a chord with the audience by showing how passionate she is about her career, which she sees as far more than a means of earning money. Teacher Ha genuinely wants her kids to succeed in school so they can live the best lives possible. This mother is fearless when it comes to defending them. Even if it means protecting people in her care from those with greater power than her.

8. Shim Kang Myung-School (2017)

The teachers are some of the most influential people in the life of students, but many do not use their influence effectively. Shin Kang Myung (Han Joo Wan) has grown from a squeamish homeroom teacher to an accomplished protector of his kids. He did laps for them and ripped up their report cards, posted across campus to get rid of an unfair reward and punishment system. He genuinely cares about his kids by always believing in them against the recommendations of the rest of the staff, even though, he has a hard time speaking up in the face of authority.

9. Oh Hyan Kyeol–Moment Of Eighteen

Unlike a teacher who dismisses the troubles of his students as minor tribulations of adolescence, Teacher Oh is an astute observer who quickly sees that a few of his students are dealing with issues that extend well beyond the classroom. While each student fights their problems, Teacher Oh does his hardest to be someone they can turn to in difficult situations.

10. Hwang Jang-Ho-Fight For My Way

Hwang Jang-Ho, former taekwondo coach of Ko Dong-man, is the cutest, sweetest, and funniest coach of all time!  He was a strong supporter and most loyal to him. The dream of Dong-man was to become a mixed martial arts fighter. Jang-ho supported him even when he stopped fighting due to some issues. And he keeps pleading with him to go back to the sport. He treats dong man with the care and concern of a mother hen. And when dong man scores his first MMA victory, Coach gets all emotional. Jang-Ho protected him both physically and mentally. Coach Jang-Ho played a crucial role in the achievements of dong man.
