Don't we all love it when our favorite Korean drama couple falls in love throughout the drama and ends up marrying by the end of the season. In some cases, it’s quite the opposite when the couple's marriage occurs in the first few episodes. These couples make us want to continue watching to see if they fall in love. They could have come together whether they get forced to marry each other, having no choice but to live together or when consent to sign a marriage contract. The top ten Korean dramas which involve contract marriage are.

1. Fated To Love You

Fated to love you, also known as You are my destiny,  is a South Korean TV series released in 2014. In this Kim Mi Young is a secretary in a law firm and is called Post-It because she never says no. Lee Gun is a successor to a firm. After having a drugged drink they end up sleeping together. She finds out she is pregnant with his child and her elders arrange a shotgun wedding for them.

2. Sassy Girl Chun Hyang

Sassy Girl Chun-Hyang is a South Korean drama released in 2005. The story starts with Lee Mong Ryong when he is transferred from Seoul to Namwon. Choon Hyang tried her best to help Ryong, her first love, to enter a prestigious university. The school finds them sleeping accidentally in the same room. To avoid backlash her parents insist that they get engaged.

3. Marriage Contract

Kang Hye-soo is a single mother who is struggling to pay off her late husband’s debts while raising her daughter. Han Ji-hoon is the son of a chaebol who, to save his mother, who needs a liver transplant is seeking a contract marriage. When Hye-soo gets diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor she agrees to marry Ji-hoon. She agrees to donate part of her liver in exchange for money to care for her daughter until she reaches adulthood.

4. Something About 1 Percent

Lee Jae-in is a ruthless heir of a wealthy family who to inherit his grandfather’s fortune has to get married. He gets into a six-month pretend contract with Kim Da-Hyun who is an elementary school teacher that was chosen by his grandfather. She doesn’t know that she rescued his grandfather when he collapsed outside her school.

5. 100 Days My Prince

Lee Yul the Crown Prince of Joseon, dismisses the royal court nobility. He passed a law that prohibited all Korean citizens of marriageable age that they must before the age of 28 ties the knot. He falls off a cliff and in an attempted assassination nearly dies. He loses his memory and only appears after 100 days under a new personality and name. He then meets Hong Sim, who is the head of the first detective agency.

6. Because This Is My First Life

Nam Se-hee is an IT employee who is socially awkward. Yoon Ji-ho is a homeless writer who is broke. They decide to get married by signing a contract of two years. They both agree to the terms and conditions of being just tenants and landlords. They share their home based on common values and goals. This doesn't go as planned when the housemates fall prey to their social expectations, personal trauma and family intervention.

7. Sweet 18

When Yoon Jung Sook is born, Kwon Hyuk Joon’s grandfather agrees to arrange a marriage between his grandson and her. These families eventually lose contact, because soon after signing the contract Jung Sook’s family goes through financial issues and runs away. Jung Sook grows up to be a strong-willed rebellious girl. When these two meet again, she thinks her fiance is boring and Hyuk Joon believes she is nothing but an immature child. They still get married.

8. Mr. Queen

Jang Bong-hwan is a chef who works at the Blue House. He one day finds himself in the Joseon period in the body of Queen Cheorin. King Cheoljong is an easy-going and gentle person. He is just named King, while the main power is still with Queen Sunwon, the late King Sunjo’s wife. Cheorin soon finds that the King has a dark and suspicious side and is not what he looks like.
