Korean Dramas were famous for their unexpected twists and turns in a story. There were several instances when Korean Netizens didn’t like those twists. There are times when Netizens take some bold and unexpected steps to cancel a drama. The reason can be the inclusion of Chinese products, distortion of South Korean History, or the representation of inaccuracy of history. Last year’s highly anticipated k- drama Snowdrop received severe criticism because of its historical facts, but JTBC saved the drama. However, not every drama gets luck like Snowdrop. Here’s the list of the Top 10 Korean dramas canceled, shortened, and boycotted by Korean netizens.

1. Joseon Excorcist

The historical drama Joseon Excoricist got officially canceled in March 2021 after airing the first two episodes. SBS tried to save the drama by claiming they would edit the controversial scenes, but about 184,000 people had already signed the petition to cancel the drama. The drama was canceled primarily because of historical inaccuracy and the inclusion of Chinese product products.

2. Wolf

Wolf premiered in 2006 but got canceled only after airing the first three episodes. The long wait resulted in losing interest on the netizen’s side. The unfortunate accidents continue to occur, which result in a delay. The production team also got stressed and worried about several postponements. Even the main lead, Eric Mun, got injured, which resulted in more delays.

3. Backstreet Rookie

Backstreet Rookie received significant backlash from the Netizens. It showed the relationship between a high school student and a middle-aged man. The drama was also criticized for the product placement and religious beliefs of the people. Still, the drama was bound to be successful.

The JTBC hit family drama The World of Marriage received many complaints and mixed reviews despite its popularity. The drama was popular across Asia, but the domestic viewers were concerned about the drama’s extreme and transparent representation of inner family matters.
