The Korean Entertainment Industry is infamous for its visuals all around the globe. Therefore, it is no surprise that agencies scouted some celebrities for their outstanding visuals. We have all heard stories of how several companies approach some of our favourite stars. Here are the top 10 Korean celebrities whose agencies scouted.
1. BTS’s Jin
It is no shock that the visual of BTS would not be on this list. Kim Seokjin of BTS became a trainee under BigHit Entertainment after getting scouted by a casting director working for the company. The casting director approached Jin after he saw Jin get off a bus and tried to convince him to give an audition, to which Jin eventually agreed. Although Jin planned on becoming an actor, he later debuted as BTS's visual and vocalist. However, this was not the first time something like that happened to Jin; he revealed that SM Entertainment once approached him, but he thought it was a scam.
2. Jung Hae In
The beloved Snowdrop actor Jung Hae In was a student in school when he scouted. While he wanted to pursue a career in biotechnology, his life path changed when an agent approached him in an ice cream shop. Since then, Hae In has had a successful career as an actor and a model.
3. EXO’s Sehun
Very well known for his stunning visuals, EXO's visual Sehun was also scouted by his agency, SM Entertainment. An exciting part of his scouting story is that an agent approached Sehun while he was busy eating tteokbokki.
4. Gang Dong-Won,
While Dong Won's dream was to build a career in sports as he was particularly interested in soccer, however, due to financial restraints, he decided to continue his education. On the other hand, his fate had different plans for him as he soon entered the entertainment industry after being scouted by an agency as a model in front of his school.
5. Bae Suzy
The former Miss A member and Dream High star, Bae Suzy, was scouted by JYP Entertainment while participating in the Mnet's Superstar K auditions. An interesting fact about this incident is that Suzy was approached by a JYP casting agent for an audition when she was on her way to use the washroom.
6. ITZY’s Ryujin
With ITZY's recent Sneakers comeback, it is a good time for new fans who are on their way to joining fandom 'MIDZY' to know how ITZY's centre Ryujin joined the group. Ryujin, like Bae Suzy, was also scouted by a JYP casting agency while she was in a queue for the bathroom. But here is another fun fact, Ryujin was scouted when she attended a fan meet of GOT7, her favourite group.
7. NCT’s Taeyong
The leader of NCT is also one of the K-pop idols an agency scouted. However, unlike other idols, Taeyong had no idea about K-pop and thought the casting agent was referring to SBS, KBS, and MBC while talking about the 'Big 3' companies. However, when the SM casting agent offered Taeyong a toast, he decided to join the company.
8. WayV’s Winwin
A recruiter approached Winwin outside his school in 2013. However, like any school student, Winwin was concerned about it being a scam. Fortunately, SM Entertainment did not give up and continued to pursue Winwin, and eventually, he decided to audition.
9. Straykids’ Hyunjin
Straykids' Hyunjin revealed his story of getting scouted by a JYP employee on Mnet's TMI News. Hyunjin described the incident as 'scary' because the official came to him while shopping with his mother. Hyunjin revealed that someone suddenly grabbed his hand, which startled him, and he asked the person who he was. Although everything cleared up quickly as the employee handed him a JYP Entertainment card, the incident still sounds scary.
10. NMIXX’s Bae
With a new addition to JYP Nation, NMIXX has gathered a lot of attention for their vocal and dance skills. While all the members have exciting stories about how they debuted, Bae is the only member of this group who the agency scouted. On an episode of Weekly Idol, Bae revealed that she was approached by an agent when she was with her school friends. The agent asked Bae if she was interested in singing and dancing, to which her friends immediately replied that Bae dances very well.
