It would be ignorant to dismiss that there are people who have experienced ghostly encounters. In the case of celebrities, because of extensive traveling and shooting at different locations, many spooky incidents have been reported, such as seeing ghosts for real. There are K-pop idols who claim to have worked or resided in haunted company buildings or dorms. It's believed that seeing ghosts can bring success in Korea, but that rarely makes it a pleasant experience. Here are 10 South Korean celebrities who have had paranormal experiences in reality.
1. Yoo Seung Ho
While filming "The Way Home," actor Yoo Seung Ho claimed to have seen a ghost. He was, at the time, resting on the first level of the country lodgings. He spotted a ghost peering at him from outside the house's small window when he woke up in the middle of the night. Yoo Seung Ho claimed that even though it occurred when he was young, the experience is still fresh in his mind.
2. IU
IU claims to have encountered a ghost while recording. She followed her manager inside the recording room when she saw him enter and discovered that the space was empty. Her manager emerged from a different room a split second later. For a moment, IU's whole body was paralyzed by fear.
3. Hong Jin Young
Hong Jin Young had been waking at night to loud banging noises from her ceiling. She didn't give it much consideration at first and assumed the noises were coming from the level above. When she finally realized she was living on the top floor of her apartment, she felt chills. Hong Jin Young had also witnessed a ghost in her house when she awoke from sleep and looked up to see a female ghost standing by the door.
4. Solar (Mamamoo)
One night, Hwasa entered the room as Solar dozed out in her bed, waking her up with the sound of footsteps. The fact that Hwasa wasn't in the dorms that evening makes this meeting so unsettling; she was visiting her hometown that weekend. After the incident, the group changed dorms.
5. Jo Jung Suk
When Jo Jung Suk was acting in the musical "Grease," he reported seeing a ghost in the building. The cleaning lady woke him up when he was dozing off in the waiting area before the evening performance. She asked him to sleep, pointing to a spot. The place she indicated was absurdly small and impractical for anyone to fit inside. Though Jo Jung Suk had just awoken from sleep, he sensed something was off. Later, he learned that a construction mishap in the building had claimed the lives of two cleaning staff members.
6. Soyou (SISTAR)
Soyou claims to have seen a ghost while waiting for the elevator with two other members of SISTAR. Soyou was startled when the elevator doors opened, and someone was standing right in front of her face. She screamed in shock, but when the other members asked why, she realized that only she had seen the person in the elevator.
7. Ji Jin Hee
Ji Jin Hee, an actor, nearly passed away due to spirits. He felt someone tap him while he was sleeping in a hotel in Hong Kong. He turned around to see six spirits behind him. The ghosts transformed their voices to sound like people Ji Jin Hee knew well, and they persuaded him to accompany them. Ji Jin Hee tried to remain still when the ghost began pushing him down forcefully and eventually left. Ji Jin Hee recalled that if he had followed them, he would have died from falling as he was staying in a room on the 23rd level.
8. Seventeen
A recent special episode of Seventeen's variety show was filmed at an abandoned factory. The members had to do the given tasks while avoiding "murderers" who were pursuing them. A member called Wonwoo claimed to have come across four spirits; one of them was a female ghost. Only three male ghosts had, however, been arranged by the production team.
9. Moon Chae Won
Moon Chae Won, an actress, witnessed a terrifying ghost hovering over her mother. Her mother was in the middle of her while she dozed off. She gazed at her mother lying next to her when she abruptly awoke to feel uneasy. She found her sleeping mother under a floating ghostly figure. Moon Chae Won's mother woke up because of her shrill screams, which caused the ghost to vanish instantly.
10. Yang Se Hyung
One time, Yang Se Hyung observed a ghostly figure in the shape of a middle schooler standing next to his brother. The ghost turned to face Yang Se Hyung as he yelled hastily at his brother. The spirit gave him a long, curious look as though it were unsure whether he could see it. The unsettling encounters persisted. The most horrifying incident was when Yang Se Hyung paused a film he was viewing at home by himself. The volume increased as the movie continued to play on its own, skipping to previous parts. Scared to death, he sprinted out of the house.
