1. IU

IU, the multi talented Korean singer, actor and model is known for her philanthropy. Besides being one of the richest Korean celebrities, she is renowned for her charitable acts. The Korean star donated almost 850 million won in shelter homes, healthcare centres, first aid kits along with the brands she work for to celebrate her 13 years in the industry. She has reportedly donated almost 1.5 billion won since the beginning of her career and her name has been mentioned among Forbes Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy in 2019. IU has also donated 260 million won during Covid-19 for masks and other medical supplies. She also helps the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation for disabled children. She has also given to the Seoul Association of the Deaf and senior citizens’ charities numerous times.

 

2. Kim Soo-Hyun

Being one of the highest paid Korean drama actors, Kim Soo-Hyun gives back a huge sum every year to charity. He has donated more than 100 million won during Covid-19 epidemic to aid South Korea’s medical supplies and help low-income families. He has given 300 million won in 2014 to help the survivors of Seoul Ferry Tragedy who were mostly suffering from Post tragedy trauma and degrading mental health. He also pledged 203 million won at a Gucci event in China to protect children’s rights.

 

3. Shin Min-A

The beautiful actress is indeed beautiful inside out. She has been secretly donating huge sums of money to support education and Healthcare of disabled children, support elderly people and North-Korean refugee women and children. Her noble acts were revealed in 2016 and she has been donating for over 10 years now. Her donations has been estimated to be about 1.4 billion won. She has also been donating 100 million won every year since 2015 to the Hallym Burn Foundation to support the burn victims. Not only this, she has also helped to build a school in Nepal for poor children where the school building collapsed and has helped children from Cambodia and Mongolia to seek medical treatments in South Korea.

 

4. Bae Suzy

Former K-pop idol turned actor, Bae Suzy is truly an angel by heart. She donates every year on her birthday to the Life Share Association. Her donations has been estimated to be more than 400 million won. The money she donates is used to treat patients suffering from paediatric cancer and other incurable diseases. She has also donated 200 million won in 2020 to victims of flood and Covid- 19. She also donates 100 million won regularly to an NGO named Happiness Sharing Taekwondo Foundation which teaches taekwondo to orphans.

 

5. Jung Woo Sung

Jung Woo Sung has donated 100 million won to Community Chest of Korean to support Covid-19 affected families. He is South Korea’s first Goodwill ambassador of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. He has also visited Nepal, Bangladesh, Lebanon and Iraq and has organised many charity events and funds for Refugees in these countries. He has also donated 100 million won to help people in Afghanistan.

 

6. Park Shin Hye

One of the most popular Korean film and drama actors, Park Shin Hye has been donating a lot to charity funds. She has set up a children’s education centre named Shin Hye Centre with its branches in Ghana and the Philippines. She has been given the honour of being the 36 th inductee of the Korea Food for the Hungry International Philanthropy Club after she donated 100 million won to the foundation for helping poverty-stricken families and Refugees. She has been an active member of this club since 2011. The actress has led the Starlight Angel Project along with her friends for supporting the end to poverty and child hunger in South Korea and various parts of the world.

 

7. Lee Seung Gi

Lee Seung Gi has donated about 100 million won to Good Neighbours, an international non-profit organization supporting humanitarian acts. Lee Seung Gi has been the sponsorer of KBS’ charity program Field Report Companion. He has also donated 100 million won to Severance Hospital for helping children undergoing rehabilitation. He has also given 100 million won to medical facilities to buy wheelchairs, posture correctors and prosthetic limbs to 23 children with spinal injuries.

 

8. Park Hae Jin

The Love from My Star actor, Park Hae Jin is known for her charitable acts. His total donations have been estimated to be around 1.7 billion won. He has donated this money to treat impoverished children, victims of calamities and the survivors and family members of Sewol Ferry Tragedy in 2014. Hae Jin has been awarded the title of honorary firefighter at the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters in Gyeonggi Province after he raised funds for this organization.

 

9. Yoo Jae-Suk

Yoo Jae Seok is quite renowned for donating millions of won to charities from time to time. He has raised over 50 million won to support Utoro Village in Japan. His total contributions to great varieties of charity estimate to be around 3 billion won. Over these ten years, he has donated more than 770,000 briquettes to the briquette bank for helping poverty-stricken families, children and elderly people. He has also helped the Sewol Ferry Tragedy survivors and families.

 

10. Jang Keun Suk

The famous K-drama actor, Jang Keun Suk has donated around 1.2 billion won as scholarship funds to his school for helping the students. He has also donated 100 million won which he earned from a commercial to Hanyang University. He has also donated 100 million won to UNICEF as an aid to the Yolanda typhoon survivors in Philippines in 2013.
