Korean dramas focus on various types of mother-child relationships. But in most of the, the mothers are supporting characters who are part of the leads’ lives. So here are few dramas that are about mothers or where the leads have children.

1. When The Camellia Blooms

The story is about a single mother and a police officer who falls in love with her. Gong Hyo Jin stars as Oh Dong Baek, who runs a bar called camellia and takes care of her son, Kang Pil Gu. The story shows the difficulties of a single mother who has to earn and look after her young son.

 

2. Mother

‘Mother’ is about a school teacher who kidnaps one of her students to help the kid escape domestic abuse. Lee Bo Young plays the role of Kang Soo Jin, a teacher who plans to adopt her student. The story revolves around the different mothers and the ways in which they treat their child.

 

3. SKY Castle

This drama is all about mothers who want to make their children successful. It also shows the different approaches to parenting. Yum Jung Ah and Oh Na Ra play mothers who would do anything for their children’s success, while Yoon Se Ah and Lee Te Ran prioritise their children’s health and interests.

 

4. Green Mothers’ Club

‘Marriage Contract’ is an emotional story of a mother who wants to secure her daughter’s future. Kang Hye Soo (Uee), is a single mother who lives with her daughter after her husband’s death. When Hye Soo finds that she has brain tumour she gets into a marriage contract with a rich man, who wants a liver donor for his mother.

 

7. Hi Bye Mama

Kim Tae Hee stars as Cha Yu Ri, who becomes human, five years after her death. She plans to spend her limited time with her daughter. But her daughter now has a step mother (Go Bo Gyeol), who loves her and takes care of her. The drama is about the various sacrifices mothers make for their children.

 

8. Lie After Lie

Ji Eun Soo (Lee Yu Ri), is falsely arrested for her husband’s murder when she is pregnant. After a year she gives her child to her mother-in-law. After her release, she realises that her daughter has been adopted by a reporter. To Stay with her daughter, she decides to make the reporter fall in love with her.

 

9. Go Back Couple

‘Go Back Couple’ is a fantasy drama, in which Jang Nara plays a 38-year-old mother. She feels her marriage lacks love and is exhausted by taking care of her son alone. When she and her husband accidentally go back in time, they decide to change their past decisions.

 

10. Second 20s

38-year-old Ha No Ra (Choi Ji Woo), discovers that she has cancer. With a very short time to live she decides to fulfil her dream of being a college student. But things are not easy as her son joins the same university and her husband works as a professor there.
