All of us have favourite characters in every drama we watch. All we wish is for them to have a happy ending. But stories don’t always go how we expect them to and our favourite characters lose their lives. Here are some characters who could have lived if the writers had little mercy on them.

1. Yoon Soo Hyun

In the drama ‘Devil Judge,’ Yoon Soo Hyun (Park Gyu Young) was a police officer who was ready to do anything to protect her childhood friend and first love. In the process, she loses her life. Her death, right after her lover’s confession, was a bit harsh on viewers.

2. Gu Seung Jun

Gu Seung Jun (Kim Jung Hyun) from ‘CLOY’ cannot be called a good character but he was not evil too. He had been punished for his mistakes and had no other choice than living in hiding. When he had finally found his true love and decided to spend at least a day with her every year, he loses his life.

3. Jang Han Seo

Nicknamed as ‘Vincenzo’s little brother’ by fans, Jang Han Seo (Kwak Dong Yeon) was a loyal supporter of the villains. But he later sided with Vincenzo and accepted him as a brother though they are unrelated. Just when he was showing his good side, fate was cruel and Han Seo got killed.

4. Van

Fans have accepted that fantasy dramas do not always have the best ending, but there was a slight hope that ‘Island’ would be different. Van (Kim Nam Gil) never had a good life and his goal was to die, he was living with the guilt of killing someone he loved. His destiny is so ill-fated that his death becomes his love’s responsibility.

5. Go Mi Ho

In ‘Big Mouth,’ Go Mi Ho only wished for a normal family life with her husband and father. But life had other plans. Her husband is wrongly accused and imprisoned. Mi Ho takes upon herself the task of getting her husband out. In the process, she discovers being affected by cancer. Though this serves as significant proof to help her husband, she loses her life very soon.

6. Lee Joo Yeong

Lee Joo Yeong (Lee Chung Ah) only appears in two episodes of ‘One Dollar Lawyer,’ but her story makes everyone cry. She is the main lead’s love interest and also the founder of the ‘one dollar’ office. She accidentally discovers some confidential documents and gets killed on the subway because of it. Fans were desperate for the couple to have a happy ending but she only lives in his memory.

7. Moo Yeon

Moo Yeon (Kim Jae Young) from ‘100 days my prince,’ not only has a tragic death but a tragic life also. He is separated from his sister and works as an assassin. He loves the crown princess but their relationship is forbidden. When he discovers the truth and plans to run away with his lover, he is killed. Fans wish that he could have been banished instead of being killed.

8. Seong Deok Im

 ‘The Red Sleeve’ is based on a real story but Seong Deok Im’s (Lee Se Young) death still shattered fans’ hearts. After getting caught in palace politics, she finally starts to have a good life with her husband (the crown prince later the king). But the death of her son and an illness that attacks her causes her death. She could never spend much time with her love.

9. Kim Yoon Sung

Kim Yoon Sung (Jinyoung) was expected to be the second male lead who is heartbroken in the end but no one expected his death. He was a carefree nobleman but his death scene shows us he had expected his life to end all of a sudden. His death gives a huge answer to his greedy family members, but him as an individual was a good man and deserved to live.

10. Kim Myeong Hee

‘Youth of May’ is a K-drama that takes place in the 1980s, a period of an uprising in Korea. But the drama was expected to be a simple and sweet love story. The leads’ love story progresses in an unexpected way and Kim Myeong Hee (Go Min Si) ends up getting killed. Her lover waits for years to discover whether she is dead or missing and this discovery is heart-wrenching.
