They are considered the celebrities among the celebrities. These k-pop groups have made a significant mark on the k-pop industry. 1. BigBang

Big Bang is a boy group under YG entertainment. The group has four members: G-dragon, T.O.P, Daesung, and Taeyang. They were the first Korean in the 30 under 30 list of most influential musicians around the globe. They also won the EMA in 2011 for the Best Worldwide Award Act. They are lovingly crowned as the “Kings of K-pop.” The CEO of YG believes the group led the company to success, and not the other way around.

 

2. 2NE1

The group debuted in 2009 with four members: CL, Minzy, Dara, and Bom. They quickly rose to popularity and became the first idols to receive the Daesang in the same year of their debut. They are called the “Queens of K-pop.” Their album was the first Korean album to feature in the Billboard 200 and remained the highest-charting Korean album for two years.

 

3. Exo

Exo debuted under SM entertainment in the year 2012. They were formerly a 12-member group with Korean (Exo-K) and Chinese (Exo-M) divisions. The group is currently active as an eight-member group. From their first album, XOXO, they have been breaking records and setting new standards for the South Korean industry. They were the first in 12 years to sell a million copies of an album. They are known as the “Nation’s Pick.”

 

4. Girls Generation

Girl’s Generation, also known as SNSD (SeoNyeoShiDae), debuted under SM Entertainment in 2007. The group consists of 8 members. They rose to fame with their hitmaker “Gee” and have been named as the “Nation’s Pick” in South Korea. They are currently preparing for a comeback.

 

5. Twice

The nine-member girl group Twice debuted under JYP Entertainment in 2015. The group quickly gained popularity with their hit song “Cheer Up.” They are the first female idols to top Billboard’s World Albums and World Digital Song Sales chart with their album Twicetagram. They are known as the “Nation’s Girl Group.”

 

6. Blackpink

The four-member power group Blackpink debuted under YG Entertainment in 2016. They are the highest charting female Korean group in the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200. 7. BTS

The 7-member boyband BTS (Bangtan Seonyeondan) debuted under Big Hit Entertainment in 2013. The group is so influential that they even gave speeches and performed at the White House.

 

8. Shinee

Shinee is a four-member boy band that was initially a five-piece group. Their main vocalist died in December 2007. The group released many hits, including Ring Ding Dong, Lucifer, Replay, etc and have earned the title the “Princes of K-pop.”

 

9. Seo Taiji And Boys

Seo Taiji and Boys were the first Korean boy group that incorporated western music into Korean music. They were the original Korean hip-hop act and are still highly respected by their juniors. They sold over million copies of their album and are one of the best-selling artists of South Korea. After a few years, one member founded his own company, popularly known as YG Entertainment.

 

10. H.O.T

H.O.T is the first K-pop idol group. They made their debut under SM Entertainment. Their successful group formula inspired the new K-pop groups.
