The SBS Daesangs garner a lot of attention every year. Having some of the blockbusters of the year, it is very difficult for the channel to decide on the award. The Grand Prize not only means a lot to the actors, their team and the people around them but also to fans who have supported them throughout the year.
1. Kim Nam Gil
Kim Nam Gil has won the Daesang twice, once in 2019, and then in 2022. He has received the award for ‘Fiery Priest,’ where he played a short-tempered priest with a secret. He won his second Daesang for ‘Through the Darkness,’ and he starred as a criminal profiler in the drama.
2. Kim So Yeon
Kim So Yeon is one of the few actors who has won a Daesang for playing an antagonist. She won the prestigious award for her hit drama ‘Penthouse: War in Life.’ She played the character of a rich woman who is willing to do anything to get her hands on what she wants.
3. Namkoong Min
‘Hot Stove League’ is one of the most popular dramas that has aired on SBS. The lead actor of the show, Namkoong Min, won the Daesang for this show. He starred as a manager of a baseball team, who has a reputation of bringing success to every team he works with.
4. Kim Sun Ah
2018’s Daesang went to Kim Sun Ah for the show ‘Should We Kiss First?’ She played a flight attendant who stops believing in love after the death of her daughter. Her performance as a woman who has lost everything and Yearns for love was appreciated.
5. Kam Woo Sung
Kam Woo Sung won the Daesang for ‘Should we kiss first?’ It was a rare occasion as he shared it with his co-star Kim Sun Ah. He starred as the Managing Director of an advertising company, who has no experience in love but wants to feel it at least once.
6. Ji Sung
Ji Sung won the Daesang in 2017 for his popular legal drama ‘Innocent Defendant.’ He appeared as a smart prosecutor in the initial episodes and as a prisoner who has no memory for the rest of the show. His portrayal of such a complex character was praised globally.
7. Han Suk Kyu
Han Suk Kyu is well known for his shows in Korea but the younger generation knows him as ‘Kim Sa-Bu’ from ‘Dr. Romantic.’ He won a Daesang for the same show. He played the titular character of a doctor with exceptional skills, working in the countryside.
8. Joo Won
Joo Won gave one of his career-best performances in ‘Yong pal’ or ‘The Gang Doctor. He won a Daesang for the same. He played a doctor who gives secret medical services to people who can’t receive them in public and ends up falling in love with an heiress he saves.
9. Jun Ji Hyun
Jun Ji Hyun is a talented actress and incidentally she won the Daesang for playing an actress. She received the award for her popular show ‘My Love from the Star,’ in which she played a top star who falls in love with an alien, who is searching for his first love.
10. Lee Bo Young
‘I Can Hear Your Voice’ is one of the best shows Lee Bo Young has starred in and she won the Daesang for this show. She played a public defender who only cares about money, but she changes as her past starts haunting her again.
