The K-pop industry is all glamorous and successful from the outside, still, these K-pop idols have to go through and endure the extreme hardship of auditioning again and again even after failing. So in this article, you are going to know about ten idols who overcame failed auditions to become successful. They also set an example that if you want anything from your heart, then give it your all, and you will succeed.

1. J-Hope (BTS)

Jung Ho Seok (a.k.a J-Hope) before debuting as a member of BTS, auditioned for JYP entertainment but got rejected. Then he became a member of a street dance group called NEURON. He also won a few underground dance battles and even performed at festivals, but nothing significant happened to him until he auditioned for big hit entertainment and was selected. Later he made his debut as a member of BTS in 2013.

 

2. Choa (A.O.A) 

Park Cho Ah wanted to become a singer ever since she was a child. She would practice singing alone at night. On one of the radio shows, she revealed that she auditioned for SM entertainment 15 times and was rejected almost every time including the time when she auditioned for JYP entertainment. Finally, the people of FNC entertainment saw potential in her, and she was selected to become a trainee there. Soon after, in 2012, she debuted as a member of AOA.

 

3. IU

If you are a K-pop fan, then you must already know who IU is. She is one of the most successful solo artists in the K-pop industry, but life was not this easy for her in the beginning. Initially, she was scammed by a fake agent who promised her a television appearance and training and lost a lot of money. She continued to audition for different companies and got rejected almost 20 times. In 2007 Leon entertainment signed her, and she debuted less than a year later, but her debut song was still not so successful. But she continued to work hard and became widely successful at the age of 17 with her songs “MARSHMELLOW”, “NAGGING,” and “GOOD DAYS”.

 

4. Jooe (MOMOLAND)

JOOE was determined to become a singer from a very young age and to accomplish her dreams, she started attending many vocal and dancing classes in middle school and high school. Even if those academies were very far from her house, she would not miss even a single class. She took those classes every day and started giving auditions simultaneously. Later in a T.V show, she revealed that she got rejected from almost 50 auditions. But at last, she was accepted by MLD entertainments, and later, she debuted as a member of MOMOLAND.

 

5. Rain

Before becoming a trainee at JYP Entertainment, Rain failed almost 18 auditions. Rain is one of those K-pop idols who did not limit themselves to one company. He left JYP entertainment in 2007 and signed under J. Tune entertainment from 2007 to 2011 and later joined Cube entertainment from 2011 to 2015. Since his debut, Rain has made six albums (5 in Korean and 1 in Japanese ) and 28 singles

 

6. Chungha

Despite being super talented, Chungha had most probably the longest training period of three years and three months. She also stated once that her dancing training period was for about 6-7 years in total. On the show “Hit the Stage”, she confessed that she almost quit dancing due to financial issues. But later, she was accepted as a trainee at JYP entertainment which she left a few years later. And currently, she is under MNH Entertainment.

 

7. Dean

Dean auditioned for JYP entertainment at the age of 17 in the year 2009 and got rejected. After this, he auditioned for several other companies but, unfortunately, was not selected. He pushed forward and was hired as a songwriter at the age of 20 in LA under Jhoombas music group and wrote songs like EXO’s “Black Pearl” and VIXX’s “Voodoo doll.” Later in 2015, he debuted as a solo artist in U.S. and Korea and has had a successful career ever since.

 

8. Sungkyun (Infinite)

Sungkyun auditioned for SM entertainment in the years 2007 and 2008 but was not selected both times. Later during his part-time job at a coffee shop, he met the manager of a band, Nell, and got recommended to audition for Woolin entertainment. Unfortunately, at the time of his audition, he got a severe stomach ache and was taken for an appendectomy soon after. To his surprise, he was selected at Woolin entertainment as a trainee and debuted as a member of Infinite in 2010

 

9. Wendy

At first, Wendy submitted her audition to YG entertainment when she was in Korea but was not selected. Later she moved to Canada, and in 2011, she submitted her singing audition for Cube entertainment in an online contest through Koreaboo. She made it to the top 15 but was not the winner. However, she got accepted at SM entertainment through an impromptu audition in Canada. Later she debuted as a member of Red Velvet in the year 2014.

 

10. Park Bom

Unlike most of the other artists, Park Bom was persistent with her audition for YG entertainment. In one of her interviews, she said that she went every year, almost every month for three years. She failed most of her auditions until she got accepted into the company in 2005. And finally, she debuts at the age of 25 under 2NE1 in the year 2009.
