There are many trends that come up on Instagram’s Reels, and some of them include audios and even choreographies from the K-pop world. Here are 10 songs that have trended on the application.

 

1. Way Back Home - Shaun

Kim Yunho, stage name Shaun, is a singer-songwriter, DJ, and music producer. Shaun debuted in the year 2010, as the backup singer and keyboardist of The Koxx, an indie rock band. Shaun released his solo track ‘Way Back Home’, in July 2018, and it unexpectedly topped music charts in South Korea. To some people, the remake of this song featuring Conor Maynard might be better known. Both these versions are pretty popular on instagram and content makers mostly used them to show beautiful aesthetics, and even their loved ones.

 

2. Colors - Stella Jang

Jang Seong-eun, or Stella Jang as she is professionally known, is a singer-songwriter signed under Grandline Entertainment. She made her musical debut with the digital single titled ‘Dumped Yesterday’, on the 19th of September, 2014. Stella released the song ‘Colors’ as part of her album under the same name in 2016. In the past few months, the song has resurfaced and become a highly trending song on Instagram. Multiple videos of people showcasing their amazing styling senses with the colors red, yellow, purple, blue, white, green, black, and a few more, are the most commonly seen contents of this song.

 

3. Some - BOL4

Bolbbalgan4 or BOL4, is a one-member act, signed under Shofar Music. BOL4 debuted in April 2016, with the mini-album ‘Red Ickle’. The group originally consisted of two members An Jiyeong and Woo Jiyun. In April 2020, Woo Jiyun left the group, and An Jiyeong continued to promote under the same name. BOL4 released the song ‘Some’, as the title track of their second mini-album ‘Red Diary Page.1’, on the 28th of September, 2017. These days it’s quite common to see watch-list videos, and recommendation videos, particularly of k-dramas and k-movies, on this song.

 

4. Bang Bang Bang - BIGBANG

BIGBANG is an idol group formed under YG Entertainment. The group originally consisted of 5 members, but Seungri retired from the entertainment industry on March 11, 2019. They are one of the most prominent and influential Korean acts in K-pop history. BIGBANG has been dubbed as the ‘Kings Of K-pop’ for their intensive contribution to the spread of the Korean Wave globally. BIGBANG released the song ‘Bang Bang Bang’ as a part of their third Korean and fifth Japanese studio album, ‘Made’. These days this song has become part of a viral dance trend.

 

5. Money - Lisa

Lalisa Manoban is a part of the world-famous girl group, BlackPink, as their rapper, singer and dancer. She is of Thai origin and can speak almost 5 languages. After cracking the audition for YG Entertainment, she began using Lisa as her stage name. ‘Money’ by Lisa was released in 2021 as part of her debut single album ‘Lalisa’. The song has become viral on Instagram for its catchy beats and its choreography, giving birth to two different trends. Many dancers and non-dancers alike have made attempts to duplicate the song’s original choreography as best they could.

 

6. Mmmh - Kai

Kim Jong In, more commonly known by his stage name Kai, is part of the Korean boy group EXO under SM Entertainment. He is the main dancer, singer and, rapper of the group. Kai was the first member of EXO to be revealed to the public back in 2011. In 2019, he debuted again with the SM supergroup SuperM. Kai’s ‘Mmmh’ was released in 2020 as part of the idol’s debut EP, ‘KAI’. It was the album’s lead single. Mmmh became a viral dance trend and, many people including, celebrities, tried out the famous hip gliding dance move.

 

7. Shoot! - ITZY

ITZY is a 5 member girl group signed under JYP Entertainment. The girls had debuted on February 12, 2019 with the album ‘IT’z Different’. ITZY is the first and only K-pop girl group to achieve a ‘Rookie Grand Slam’, having won most major awards for a rookie idol group in the year of their debut. Their song ‘SHOOT!’ was released as the fifth track on their fourth mini-album ‘Guess Who’. The song trended on Instagram’s reels with many people coming up with creative video content with the audio.

 

8. What Is Love - TWICE

TWICE is an idol girl group under JYP Entertainment. The group was put together through a competition reality show named ‘SIXTEEN’. The 9 member group debuted on October 20, 2015 with the mini-album titled ‘The Story Begins’. TWICE rose to fame after the release of their 2016 single ‘Cheer Up’. ‘What is Love?’ by TWICE was released in 2018 as the lead single of their fifth EP of the same title. Although the song is over 2 years old, it’s choreography has become a recent trend on Instagram reels with many people trying it out in their own creative ways.

Stray Kids is an idol boy group that debuted on March 25, 2018 under JYP Entertainment. It was originally a 9 member group formed through a survival show of the same name, ‘Stray Kids’. 10. Gentleman - PSY

Park Jae-sang, or simply PSY is a singer and rapper. He first achieved international fame in 2012 with the release of the famous song ‘Gangnam Style’. ‘Gangnam Style’ was the first song ever to reach the 1 billion views milestone on YouTube. Gentleman’ was released in 2013 as PSY’s 19th single. The song began resurfacing on the internet after a dance challenge was made viral on its audio. Many popular influencers came up with amazing versions of the challenge that are definitely worth the watch.
