Here is the list of some Korean - pop stars and actors who tragically passed away young. They could have been the best had they lived longer. Now that they are gone, we’ll have to watch their works in honour of their memory.

1. Goo Hara

South Korean singer and actress Goo Hara, also known as Hara, was born on 3rd January 1991. She was part of Kara, a South Korean girls group, and was also a TV personality (City Hunter (2011)). She debuted as a soloist in July 2015 with the release of EP Alohara. However, in 2018, Goo Hara filed a lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend, who had secretly filmed her engaged in sexual intercourse with him and threatened to post the footage online. Goo's manager discovered her unconscious at her home in May 2019 following what appeared to be a suicide attempt. She had to apologize to her fans for causing concerns and a commotion. She returned to work after that, releasing another single and touring Japan. She urged her cyberbullies to stop harassing her because she was suffering from depression. But, Hara was found dead at her residence in Cheongdam - dong, Gangnam, by her manager on 24th November 2019. She was 28 then. It was stated that suicide was the cause of death as a suicide letter written by Goo was discovered by police.

 

2. Kim Jong - Hyun

Kim Jong - Hyun, better known as Jonghyun, was born on 8th April 1990. He worked under the SM Entertainment label. He was a South Korean singer-songwriter, record producer, radio host, and writer. He was also the main vocalist of SHINee, a South Korean boy band, for nine years. Jonghyun rented an apartment for two days in December 2017 in Cheongdam - dong, Gangnam District, southern Seoul. On 18th December, 2017, he arrived at the destination at around 12 p.m. Later that day, at 4:42 p.m., Jonghyun's older sister, Kim So - dam, contacted the police to report that she feared her brother was planning to commit suicide after he sent her a series of messages on KakaoTalk with phrases like "final goodbye" and "say I did well." Jonghyun was spotted unconscious at his rented residence by police and rescue workers. In a state of cardiac arrest, he was rushed to the hospital. However, he did not regain consciousness; and was pronounced dead at the hospital at the age of 27. His death was declared a possible suicide by authorities. Jonghyun’s death was connected by several media outlets to his depression.

 

3. Sulli

South Korean actress, singer, and model, Choi Jin - ri, better known by the name Sulli, was born on 29th March 1994. Sulli rose to attention in 2009 as a member of the girl group f(x). Sulli was found dead by her manager on 14th October 2019, after hanging herself on the second floor of her home in Seongnam-si, south of Seoul. After conversing with Sulli over the phone the day before, the manager reportedly went to her residence when he couldn't reach her. There were no signs of foul activity or a break-in, so the police had deemed it to be a suicide. They discovered a handwritten message in her diary in which she expressed her emotions, but it was not a suicide note. Sulli's death was connected to depression brought on by cyberbullying by several news outlets.

 

4. Moon Ji -Yoon

South Korean actor and model, Moon Ji - Yoon was born on 18th February 1984. He was well recognized for his parts as a supporting actor in 'Cheese in the Trap' and 'Weightlifting Fairy Bok-jo Kim'. On 18th March 2020, Moon Ji - Yoon passed away at the age of 36. According to his management company Dream Stone Entertainment, he died of a sore throat condition.

 

5. Kim Jeong-Hwan

South Korean singer and member of the Korean pop group TST, Kim Jeong - hwan, also known as Yohan, was born on 16th April 1992. He made his debut in January 2017 in Top Secret (later renamed TST) with the album “Time’s Up.” On 16th June 2020, Yohan died at the age of 28. The cause of his death still remains undisclosed. Out of respect for Yohan's family, the family has requested that the speculation of media publications on the cause of his death should be avoided.

 

6. Oh In Hye

South Korean actress and model Oh In - Hye was born on 4th January 1984. She has appeared in films such as Sin of a Family, A Journey with Korean Masters, and Eating, Talking, and Faucking. Oh, In - Hye, on 14th September 2020, was found unconscious in Songdo's house in Yeonsu, Incheon. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died of cardiac arrest as a result of her suicide, at the age of 36.

 

7. Go Soo-Jung

South Korean actress and model Go Soo - Jung was born on 17th April 1995. She was recognized for her roles in the Goblin and Solomon's Perjury. But at the age of 24 on 4th February 2020, Jung died. She died due to chronic disease; although it was never revealed what the illness was. Some speculated about the actress's cause of death, but the fans quickly shut down the conversation out of respect for her.

 

8. Cha In-Ha

Cha In-ha, a South Korean actor was born on 15th July 1992. He is best known for his roles in The Banker, Clean with Passion for Now, and Love with Flaws. He was also a member of the actor group 'Surprise U'. Cha, who was 27 years old, died on 3rd December 2019. The reason behind his death is unknown. His manager found him dead in his home in Seoul's Gangnam-gu District. Out of respect for his family, Cha's agency, Fantagio, has warned against spreading rumours and speculative stories about his death, and they announced that he would have a private funeral. Cha left no will or final statement, according to a police spokeswoman.

 

9. Kim Jin-Soo

The South Korean singer, Kim Jin-soo, whose stage name was Tany, was born on 5th July 1997. The artist rose to prominence in 2016 after releasing the song "Always Remember”, a memorial to the victims of the Sewol Ferry Disaster two years ago. When the boat sank, more than 300 individuals died, the majority of whom were high school students. On the morning of 14th April, 2018, Tany died tragically at the young age of 22. He was driving himself and another passenger when he collided with a "structure." The car caught fire and was fully destroyed, according to Korea Portal. The passenger died as well.

 

10. Park Ji-Hoon

The South Korean model and actor, Park Jin - hoon was born on 19th April 1989. He is best known for his role in Dal - Soon’s Spring and Chicago Typewriter. Park Ji - hoon died on 11th May 2020, due to stomach cancer at the age of 31.
