Anime is still one of the most exciting forms of entertainment. It indulges its fans with a limitless variety of genres and quality storytelling. Anime can create different archetypes and pay service to old traditions. Anime has complex plots and heroes. It requires creative and terrifying villains to connect.  Sometimes the biggest plot twist any story can give is the hero turning out into a Villain. Here is a list of the top ten Anime Heroes who became villains.

1. Uchiha Sasuke- Naruto

Some people love Sasuke for his cold demeanor and arrogance. Fans assumed Sasuke would become a good character, but the author had other plans. Sasuke got traumatized at a young age with his whole family and clan dead- he grew up with angry and vengeful thoughts. This attitude made him a rival to Naruto. With age, he became restless to kill his clan's killer, his brother. Eventually, he left his village and joined Orochimaru and Akatsuki, a villain organization- to gain power.

2. Light Yagami- Death Note

Some might say Light Yagami's intentions were noble, but he never got called a pure good guy. Light Yagami began to focus on using the Death Note, a notebook that has the power to kill anyone- he began to take pleasure in it. This absolute power over death corrupted Light to a large extent. He planned to exterminate all the criminals in the world. Light Yagami was an anti-hero since the beginning. Only after meeting L he truly began to follow the path of villainy, becoming ruthless and manipulative with the plot.

3. Isabella- The Promised Neverland

It might be understandable why Isabella did what she did, but it is hard to forgive her. She willingly took children away to get eaten by demons while being a motherly figure to them. Isabella cared about the kids in her way and wasn't afraid to hurt them if they learned the truth. Being an orphan, Isabella thought about her survival. However, she gracefully accepts her defeat and wishes the best to the kids.

4. Eren Yeager- Attack On Titan

The Anime Attack on Titan has become a plot of ideologies. The concept of a hero turning evil for his loved ones is applied well here. Fans can see Eren Yeager go from being a child wanting to kill the titans and protect humanity to planning genocide and becoming a threat. Alone with the plot, Eren was an ideological man, and his struggle and trauma with everything happening around him were evident. It made his character the most stagnant. Eren got stuck in his past to seek revenge. With the Rumbling happening in Season 4, he might destroy the world or be a supreme villain against humanity.

5. Shiro- Deadman Wonderland

Shiro may look sweet and innocent, but she is got Ganta accused of murdering his classmate. Shiro may seem childlike and sweet but with a dark secret. It turns out she was responsible for the murders, and she is a vicious and sadistic person. Shiro lives in peace with the Wretched Egg. She was experimental throughout Shiro's childhood and developed the Wretched Egg to cope with her pain. Both personalities wished Ganta to become a Deadman.

6. Ken Kaneki- Tokyo Ghoul

Ken Kaneki suffered because one Bad Date turned him into a Half-Ghoul. He found many friends who helped him with his transition, though Kaneki struggled. His innocence got crushed when he fell under the command of Yakumo Oomori, or Jason. Kaneki got tortured, and that changed his personality drastically.

7. Stain- My Hero Academia

In the Anime My Hero Academia, heroes and villains play an equal roles. Some villains once wished for or were heroes. One character named Hero Killer Stain, or Chizome Akaguro- a budding hero whose aspirations and dreams vanished after realizing how corrupt and dishonest is the Hero community. Stain dropped out of school and committed his life in search of noble and true heroes, and in the process killing many heroes.

8. Sosuke Aizen- Bleach

The antagonist of the well-known vintage anime Bleach is Sosuke Aizen. Aizen has set the bar for the ideal villain, though he wasn't always one. Initially, he gave the impression of a good guy who got committed to his role as a Gotei member. He served and adhered strictly to Soul Society. However, Aizen was working on projects that no one could imagine. His identity gets designed to hide his intentions- to destroy the Soul Society. He set up schemes to become the heavenly king while staying undetected.

9. Lelouch Lamperouge- Code Geass

In the grand plan of Code Geass, Lelouch knew he'll get punished for his revolution against the Royal Empire. He promised to liberate Japan and build a better society, for which he never hesitated to sacrifice others.  Lelouch Lamperouge is a well-written character who went through a massive change from a hero to a Villain. Lelouch got prepared to compromise his morals and dignity to achieve his goals. Earlier fans believed- that he would be a good guy, but instead, Lelouch turned darker.

10. Griffith- Berserk

Fans of the Anime Berserk knew Griffith as a man who committed one of the biggest betrayals in Anime history. Griffith was ambitious, but no one was ready for the consequences of what he did. he sacrificed the Band of the Hawk to be a part of the God Hand and become a Femto. He tortured Casca and Guts, the only surviving members of the event. It led Guts on the dark path of revenge to kill Griffith. Griffith feels no remorse for sacrificing his comrades. To think that all this disaster happened because Griffith's pride got hurt when Guts defeated him.
