Celebrities are held responsible for their behavior and must apologize when they go against the norms. Below are some Japanese stars who apologized to the public for their actions:

1. Maho Yamaguchi

NGT48’s Maho Yamaguchi revealed that she had been assaulted by obsessive fans. Later she had to apologize for causing inconvenience to the public, which generated criticism from international fans of Japan. They questioned the company as they remained silent and she had to apologize. They called it a case of victim blaming.

 

2. Minami Minegishi

AKB48 member Minami Minegishi had to apologize publicly with a shaved head. She was spotted leaving her boyfriend Alan Shirahama’s apartment, which caused a backlash among the Japanese public. She apologized with tears as she didn’t want to leave the group.

 

3. Kiko Mizuhara

Kiko Mizuhara is an American-Japanese model and actress. She was under backlash for liking a post on Instagram which were offensive to China and appearing in a photo that glorified Japan’s past military. Netizens threatened to boycott her movies. She later had to apologize and clarify their doubts.

 

4. Akina Nakamori

The biggest selling musical acts of the Showa Era, Akina Nakamori and Seiko Matsuda, was portrayed as major rivals even though they were okay with each other. Seiko allegedly was having an affair with Anita Mui despite being in a relationship with Nakamori. She attempted suicide and later apologized for causing inconvenience.

 

5. Johnny Kitagawa

Johnny Kitagawa was the president of the most powerful talent agency in Japan. He sexually abused young boys who worked for him previously. Twelve former members of the company accused him of the act. He later sued the magazine for ruining his character.

 

6. Noriko Sakai

Noriko, famously nicknamed Nori-P, was arrested for drug abuse. She was famous for her saccharine ballads and pure image, which caused an even more backlash upon hearing the news. They found drugs in her apartment wrapped up in foil. She was sentenced to 18-month imprisonment and continued her career again from 2012.

 

7. Takashi Murakami 

Takashi Murakami was one of the Japanese artists who took to NFT. His collection had a total worth of $260,000 US dollars, but it went down to $2000 US dollars recently. He launched his latest collection at the wrong time, which was during the cryptocurrency crash. He apologized to his investors and fans through social media.

 

8. Ken Watanabe

Comedian Ken Watanabe was caught having an extramarital affair. He was reportedly having multiple rendezvous with multiple women inside multipurpose bathrooms. As the news was spreading, Watanabe issued an apology through his company and took a break from all show business.

 

9. Atsuko Takahata

Atsuko Takahata is a Japanese actress. She apologized for her son’s behavior in a press conference. Her son Yuta Takahata had raped a woman in a hotel and was arrested. She expressed deep remorse for her son’s actions and sincerely apologized in the seventy-minute press conference.

 

10. Mamoru Samuragochi
