Japan has a heroic war history. And the media industry has done a commendable job of portraying that. Let's see some such Japanese films.

1. Seven Samurai

Seven Samurai is a historical Japanese film released in 1954. Akira Kurosawa directed the movie, and Shinobu Hashimoto and Hideo Oguni wrote the screenplay for the film. Sojiro Motoki produced the movie. And it starred Toshiro Mifune, Takashi Shimura, Keiko Tsushima, Isao Kimura, etc. The movie's plot revolves around farmers from a small town. The bandits illegally captured Farmer's lands. And they were exploiting them too. And to get rid of them, the farmers hired seven samurai to protect them.

 

2. Ran

Ran is a Japanese movie released in 1985. Akira Kurosawa directed the film, and Hideo Oguni and Masato Ide wrote the screenplay for the film. Katsumi Furukawa, Masato Hara, Hisao Kurosawa, and Serge Silberman produced the film, and it starred Tatsuya Nakadai, Akira Terao, Jinpachi Nezu, Daisuke Ryu, Mieko Harada, etc. The movie's plot revolves around the Medieval Japan era. A King had to step down and handle his empire to his three sons. He did the same, but he underestimated the fact that the newfound power could corrupt the new and young kinds and would eventually turn them against each other.

 

3. Battle Of Okinawa

Battle of Okinawa is a Japanese film released in 1971. Kihachi Okamoto directed the movie, and Ryozo Kasahara and Kaneto Shindo wrote the storyline for the movie. Sanezumi Fujimoto and Hiroshi Haryu produced the film, and it starred Keiju Kobayashi, Yuzo Kayama, Tetsuro Tanba, Tatsuya Nakadai, Mayumi Ozora, etc. The film's storyline revolves around the events of World War 2. During that time, the Battle of Okinawa outbroke. The US troops started bombing Japan, and the battle left 150000 Japanese civilians dead.

 

4. Under The Flag Of The Rising Sun

Under the Flag of the Rising Sun is a Japanese film released in 1972. Kinji Fukasaku directed the movie, and Norio Osada and Kaneto Shindo wrote the screenplay for the film. Seishi Matsumaru, Eigasha Shinsei, and Shohei Tokizane produced the movie, and it starred Tetsuro Tanba, Sachiko Hidari, Shinjiro Ebara, Isao Natsuyagi, Sanae Nakahara, etc. The movie's plot revolves around a woman who is all set to find the truth about his husband's death in World War 2. When she met the other sergeants from the family, everybody told her a different story. Slowly, inch by inch she is getting closer to the mystery that everybody tried to bury.

 

5. Otoko-Tachi No Yamato

Otoko-tachi no Yamato is a Japanese movie released in 2005. Junya Sato directed the film, and Jun Henmi and Junya Sato wrote the storyline for the movie. Haruki Kadokawa, Noriko Koyanagi, Sunao Sakagami, and Tan Takaiwa produced the movie, and it starred Takashi Sorimachi, Shido Nakamura, Kyoka Suzuki, Kenichi Matsuyama, Yu Aoi, Dai Watanabe, etc. The film's storyline revolves around three Japanese friends. They were ready to begin their journey on Yamato to battle America in World War 2. It was the world's largest battleship but was submerged in the ocean three years later.

 

6. Isoroku Yamamoto: The Commander-In-Chief Of The Combined Fleet

Isoroku Yamamoto is a Japanese film released in 2011. Izuru Narushima directed the film, and Yasuo Hasegawa and Kenzaburo Lida wrote the storyline for the movie. Shohei Kotaki and Miki Watanabe produced the movie, and it starred Koji Yakusho, Hiroshi Abe, Shuichi Azumaya, Mitsugoro Bando, Akira Emoto, etc. The film's plot revolves around the life of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. The film starts from the early 1930s to 1943, when he died at the hands of the US military.

 

7. Atragon 

Atragon is a Japanese sci-fi film released in 1963. Ishiro Honda and Shue Matsubayashi directed the movie, and Shinichi Sekizawa, Shunro Oshikawa, and Shigeru Komatsuzaki wrote the storyline for the movie. Tomoyuki Tanaka produced the movie. And it starred Tadao Takashima, Yoko Fujiyama, Yu Fujiki, Kenji Sahara, Ken Uehara, Hiroshi Koizumi, Jun Tazaki, etc. The film's storyline revolves around the fight between the people living on the ocean floor and those on the surface. Everyone believed Atragon that could protect the Earth from the attack of Mu.

 

8. Japan’s Longest Day

Japan's Longest Day is a war-drama film released in 1967. Kihachi Okamoto directed the movie, and Shinobu Hashimoto and Soichi Oya wrote the storyline for the movie. Sanezumi Fujimoto and Tomoyuki Tanaka produced the film. And it starred Seiji Miyaguchi, Rokko Toura, Chishu Ryu, So Yamamura, Toshiro Mifune, etc. The film's plot revolves around the after events of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Japanese government announced they were considering surrendering Japan, but the Japanese military was strictly against the plan. Anami, the Chief Army Commander said, the Japanese military is ready to fight until the last ounce of their blood.

Spy Sorge is a Japanese film released in 2003. Masahiro Shinoda wrote and directed the movie. Manfred Durniok, Masato Hara, Masaru Koibuchi, and Peter Rawley produced the movie, and it starred Iain Glen, Masahiro Motoki, Kippei Shina, Takaya Kamikawa, Toshiya Nagasawa, Riona Hazuki, Koyuki, etc.

 

10. Ode To Joy

The Ode to Joy is a Japanese film released in 2006. The film's storyline revolves around the German soldiers who went to a prisoner camp in Japan after the end of the First World War.
