Together they set out to uncover the deep mysteries of the world that they are trapped in, all the while risking their lives in the name of survival.

Kusano is a young man with a bright future who has a fancy degree and a perfect new job. But when the financial corporate he works for goes bankrupt, he gets thrown onto the streets. Slowly his father begins to fall ill and requires treatment. In urgent need of money, Kusano goes job-hunting and finds a rather peculiar job. A job that requires him to get deeply involved in phone scams.

Shin is a not-so-popular novelist. He has been living in a house with five mysterious women for almost half a year now. These women all their roles to carry out, and they each pay Shin 1 million yen as rent and living expenses per month. The only catch? Shin isn’t allowed to go into their rooms or ask any questions about them.

Twelve high school girls wake up to find themselves locked up in an unknown room, with their feet shackled to the ground. Scared of the unknown, the girls try to figure out why they are trapped in the room, and how they can escape from there.

Ishikawa is an intelligent detective with exceptional observational skills. He is a complete workaholic with an almost non-existent personal life. One day during a firing between a killer and himself, Ishikawa gets shot in the head. Hovering between life and death, he pleads not to die. Miraculously, Ishikawa survives and goes to work, with the bullet still in his head. But slowly begins to see weird things. Ever since he was shot, Ishikawa gained the ability to see and communicate with the dead.

 

6. Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories

“The Master” is a chef who owns a mysterious diner. The diner has a limited menu, but the Master agrees to make anything the customers want to eat, as long as he has the ingredients for it. He refuses to comply with any demands that are out of his skill set or recipes that are complicated. Weirdly, his food always provides comfort to his customers.

 

7. Smoking

A small group of vigilantes take up jobs that concern itself with restoring justice. They are led by Uncle Sabe, a former underground doctor. As proof of a successful job, Smoking has a specific signature work, they remove the tattoo from a target’s back. Smoking’s target isn’t always people from the gang world, sometimes things do get personal.

 

8. Samurai Gourmet

After retiring from the job, he had for 38 years, Takeshi finds himself bored and looks for something to occupy his time. One day he discovers his desire to indulge in food. But Takeshi lacks confidence in himself, and so he does precisely that.

 

9. The Many Faces Of Ito

Yazaki Rio is a screenwriter in her 30s. Looking for inspiration for her next big break, Rio finds herself offering relationship advice to 4 women, who are all involved with a man named Ito. Weirdly, the description of each of these women about Ito is entirely different from the other. Fascinated by this, Rio decides to use their stories and problems as inspiration for her next work.

 

10. Crisis: Special Security Squad

Akira is a former Self Defense Force member. Now, he works for a secret  Special Investigation Team at the National Police Agency. Saburo joined the Special Investigation Team due to an incident. Together these two men set out to solve crimes that are a threat to national security.
