Anime Digest

The show is the third addition to the popular anime Xue Ying Ling Zhu, first released in the year 2018. It follows the story of Dong Bo Xue Ying as he tries to protect his family and take revenge on people who took everything away from him. It’s a story of revenge, love, family, and most importantly, standing up for yourself.

The Feel-Good Part

The show’s story itself is pretty promising for you to stick around the three seasons and even wait for the upcoming seasons. The fighting scenes and the character development are something everyone can find relatable.

The Disappointing Part

The show drags on quite a bit to explain where our characters are coming from and to allow the viewers to connect with the characters, but it just becomes a hurdle in enjoying the anime. Other than that, the only issue most fans had was the script moving further and further away from the original story of the web novel.

In-Depth Analysis

Xue Ying Ling Zhu, also known as Snow Eagle Lord to English-speaking fans, is the story of Xue Ying Territory in the Tranquil Sun province, home to the Dong Bo clan. Our hero, Xue Ying, had a simple, uncomplicated life. His mother left her clan to marry his father, who was a commoner but became a noble; after marrying his mother, they have two kids Xue Ying and his younger brother. The story basis itself on a Chinese web novel of the same name. Xue Ying’s life gets turned upside down. A sudden event results in him seeking revenge on whoever was behind this mess. The first two seasons focused a lot more on him developing his powers, and strength and this season focuses more on progressing the story and character development. The fight scenes are, as usual grand and stunning. The season provides a lot more growth to the plot, which has been advanced slowly for the past two seasons. Our hero still has to go a long way to achieve his final goal of revenge and the studio is taking its time to create the universe, and experience for the viewers. The only problem with this method is that it may end up being overbearing for the fans. The show drags in a lot of places, which becomes uninteresting even if the story itself is promising.

Star Power

For an anime, all the star power lies at the hands of the creators. The same is the case with Xue Ying Ling Zhu. The characters’ interaction and the overall storyline is what make the show a fan favorite.

Overall Opinion

If you are an enthusiast of action and fantasy genre, this anime is for you. The first season may seem a bit too slow but hang in there as there is something much better waiting for you when the story progresses, especially in the third season. The show does have an exciting premise and good characters to support it. The only issue is the pace the show is currently following, which may hinder your overall viewing experience; other than that, it is totally worth it.
