Anime Digest

Neku Sakuraba is a sociopath living in Tokyo. He frequently roams the rough, hip streets of Shibuya, one of the several wards of Japan’s largest city. Neku, however, is not in the real Shibuya. Instead, he competes in the Underground, or UG, Shibuya, where he faces off against terrifying Noise—technicolour monsters—while trying to figure out how to triumph in the game he was made to play. “The World Ends With You” is similar to the game. Neku is followed throughout the animation over several weeks, depicting his transformation from a humanity-hating teen who doesn’t need anyone to a more fully realised personality.

The Feel Good Part

We can all agree that its flawless and exquisite character design is its single redeeming quality.

The Disappointing Factor

There is no EDM rock music played throughout the battle scenes. The story misses the chance to develop the characters.

In-Depth Analysis

All in all, the series is enjoyable to watch. Since it is an adaptation of a Nintendo game, one must expect low from the anime series. However, it might be one of the most enjoyable video adaptations since it perfectly captures the style and fun of the original 2008 game. There is undoubtedly plenty that is missing, but each episode also packs a tonne of information. Things begin to turn better as the show takes off in episode 4. It continues into the climax, which is pleasing enough for viewers on all levels for a happy ending.

Star Power

The voice actors do great justice to the characters.

Overall Opinion

It is enjoyable.
