Anime Digest
Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! is about Kisaragi Corporation after conquering the Earth has decided to transform from an underground criminal gang into an evil megacorporation to attempt intergalactic domination. Their chief appoints his agent, Combat Agent Six, and the recently developed battle droid Alice to explore and report on another earth-like planet before they decide to take over.
The Feel-Good Part
Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! has a lot of funny scenes, hilarious action, and simple but on-your-face fan service. The character designs are reasonably distinctive, there’s little chance of confusion about who’s who, and the animation and backdrop are excellent.
The Disappointing Factors
The main plus factor of the show is also its biggest disappointing factor. Most of the comedy at Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! is hit and miss. Most jokes in the show are sexual and offensive, take that out; you are left with a meaningless script with no structure. It is no exaggeration to say the show is pretty average. The anime does nothing to make its characters meaningful, so most of the emotional scenes just seem awkward and pointless.
In-Depth Analysis
Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! also known as Combatants Will Be Dispatched! is about “Combat Agent 6”, Sentouin Roku Gou. He works for the Kisaragi Corporation, an evil organization that has conquered much of the Earth and seeks to consume itself extraterrestrially. To this end, Combat Agent 6 is sent to a distant Earth-like planet along with the combat android Alice Kisaragi, an incredible battle droid with a lively appearance as Roku’s traveling companion. Roku has to collect “evil points” to get the required equipment from Earth. Arriving at the Kingdom of Grace, the land of a fantasy-like world, Alice and Roku meet Snow, the commander-in-chief of the Imperial Guard. Snow leads the pair to the Broken Legendary Artifact. At the same time, Roku Gou grabs the long-awaited opportunity of promotion in his company, turning the recital of sacred rituals into disconcerting sentences. As a penalty, the kingdom’s princess forces Roku go to become a volunteer soldier. He needs to help the kingdom fight the Demon Lord’s army. Sentouin is rough, vulgar, and juvenile most of the time. Admittedly, the characters are generic and can be pretty annoying, but it was still entertaining.
Star Power
The star power of the show is Alice the only character that made little sense in the entire show. She was serious during the missions and focused on her tasks. She even lectured Six for being childish and fooling around.
Overall Opinion
Overall, Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! or Combatants Will Be Dispatched! is a pure waste of a story with overloaded jokes which may or may not work all the time. But it may still work for people who can put away offensive jokes and want to watch something mindlessly. The show is not a masterpiece, but it is one of a kind. Overall, it’s fun with lots of laughs, average action, and fanservice.
