Drama Digest

The story follows a group of wizards who collect mazica to save the world. One day, a high school student Kezuru wakes up from a strange dream where he finds himself as one of the wizards, alongside a creature named “mazin” and a mysterious girl. Thinking it’s nothing more than a dream, he goes to school and finds that his friend Kuracchi proudly shows off the newly launched Mazica Party card game. Surprisingly, all the characters drawn in the game’s card are the same in his dream.

The Feel-Good Part

A colorful, vibrant cast of characters in a show centered around a card game. What more could you ask for? It is something someone can enjoy if they are a collector or like family-friendly content.

The Disappointing Factor

There is a lack of depth to the show. This can be excused for the show being a G-rated show about card games, wizards, and mythical creatures. But again, several shows do not water down the concepts they talk about and still present a family-friendly show. There is a massive lack of anything in this show, and it seems to be another anime about merchandise.

In-Depth Analysis

It’s not uncommon for anime to be created out of merchandise, but when it’s centered around it,  you lose other aspects such as story, conflict, etc. There is plenty of anime based on card games out there. Whether or not this is an excellent example depends on the person that watches it.

Star Power

Shinji Ushiro directed the show. This seasoned veteran in the anime industry has had multiple directorial entries such as One Piece, Omamori Himari, Youkai Watch, and so many more. The show also has a great list of supporting characters and creatures, which include Disco, Fukurock, Jaguja, One Knight, and Wanisuke.

Overall Opinion

If you want to watch an anime about a card game, this anime is for you. If you want to go beyond cute characters, G-rated humor, and merchandise, this show is not for you.
