Anime Digest

The anime is set in April 2095. Almost a century later since magic was recognized as legitimate technology. The National Magic University Affiliated First High School, also known as “Magic High School,” is a prominent institution for magicians where the two siblings have enrolled. The oldest brother, Tatsuya, is an “irregular” with a fatal weakness in his magical abilities, and Miyuki, the younger sister, is a top student with unrivalled magical power. Even though the two are now close, their relationship used to be dysfunctional, and they acted more like master and servant. However, one event permanently changes their relationship.

Watch the anime to know more about their relationship and Tatsuya’s secret.

The Feel-Good Part

The adaptation of every scenario was excellent. Excellent animation is used. Miyuki and Tatsuya’s and the other characters’ personality growth was tremendous. If not for the climax, it would be perfect. This anime includes scenes that are incredibly well-respected.

The Disappointing Factor

The worst aspect of this special is that the character development often appears rushed because the writers and producers omitted to incorporate crucial historical scenes. Inconsistencies result from the episode’s missing half of the narrative. Therefore, you must watch the previous seasons to understand this special.

In-Depth Analysis

Beginning in the present, Miyuki and Tatsuya are getting ready to leave for vacation. Minami, their assistant, is washing the breakfast dishes. Miyuki takes a long look at the girl’s face before deciding that she resembles someone else, and she then muses on the three years that have passed since a particular day. A tall, older woman who resembles Miyuki’s appearance is with a youthful Miyuki. A youthful Shiba Tatsuya carefully manoeuvres a trolley with their bags behind them. A great distance separates Tatsuya and Miyuki, and the two are theoretically no more than siblings.

Despite being Miyuki’s older brother, Tatsuya is obedient to her family because of the relationships in the Yotsuba family and his lesser status as a Shiba. Because of the hierarchy between the families, aristocratic terminology is ambiguous. The fact that Tatsuya must fly in economy class while Miyuki and her mother ride privately in a luxurious pod is one amusing illustration of this. Miyuki chooses to take a solitary stroll on the day of their arrival, but her mother instructs Tatsuya to go with her. Some naval men of Japanese-American origin assault Miyuki while out on a stroll, and Tatsuya dispatches the threat without blinking.

Tatsuya is now thought to be a person without any magical ability or potential, which also accounts for his family’s continued abuse of him. Even though he has often saved her and other family members, his mother still refers to him as a “good-for-nothing.”

Star Power

Overall, the artwork and sound were excellent. Since Tatsuya is involved, neither of those things should have come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the Mahouka series. Despite being somewhat predictable, watching the development and finally uncovering Tatsuya’s true nature was still quite fascinating. Moreover, a lot of background information was given, and several significant individuals appeared.

Overall Opinion

To watch this special, you must be familiar with the previous prequels of the Mahouka series. And if you are already a fan of the Mahouka series, go for it! It has excellent visuals and fantastic animation.
