Drama Digest

Love Live Nijigasaki is the next part of the ongoing idol franchise. It adds new twists and turns and new drama to our favorite parts of the Love Live series. The series is about a group of school idols and their competitions within their school club. Although competing, they work together to keep the club running smoothly. Together, they are known as the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.

The Feel-Good Part

This series does not require the audience to be already familiar with the previous parts; it can stand independently. Love Live always gives colorful animation with excellent graphics. Nijigasaki is a wholesome reminder of the love of anime and the captivation of the slice-of-life genre. It is almost like a love letter to slice-of-life fans as a whole.

The Disappointing Factor

It follows many of the same tropes that the previous seasons did. And the few new concepts that it attempts don’t exactly seem to work out well but instead harm the series. Some parts of the story seem to slow down the whole narrative.

In-Depth Analysis

While the previous two Love Live idol clubs each have nine members, the Nijigasaki idol club has ten members. The tenth member serves as the club manager and not as one of the idols. She is an anime-original character. Ayumu Uehara is the protagonist here. Setsuna Yuuki is the student council president while secretly also an idol. Every single song in this series is melodic and memorable in a certain way. The solo songs sung by each character portray their personalities and give a glance into their role.

You do not need to play the SIF All Stars game to understand the series. It may enhance the experience of the whole show but is not necessary if you haven’t already played the game.

Star Power

All the favorite characters of the previous Love Live series return with great animation and strong performance this season.

Overall Opinion

The Love Live Nijigasaki High School Idol Club is overall an above-average series to watch for all kinds of anime fans. The characters are great, with good plots and fantastic interactions. The art is excellent in blending the 2D and 3D components. Love Live Nijigasaki is a worthy addition to the franchise. Both fans and new audiences may likely find this to be a solid, if not fantastic, entry that may surprise them. Even for new audiences, this can serve as a good starting point to the series, as prior knowledge of past shows is not necessary to start watching Nijigasaki. It has a smooth art style with better graphics and animations, a new storyline, unforgettable music to nod your head to, and a strong cast- it serves the total package.
