Drama Digest

Amakusa Ryou is a high-spec businessman who hasn’t stuck with one person for a long time and is constantly pursuing women around him. One day he makes a strange encounter with Arima Ichika, his high school sister’s best friend. He falls madly in love with her and begins approaching her directly, which she takes offense to and finds uncomfortable and disturbing. But Ryou is determined to make sure she falls in love with him. What happens to this mismatched pairing? Will Ryou give up and find someone his age? Watch the drama and find out.

The Feel-Good Part

If you find persistence and a deep desire to fall in love with someone regardless of age and social barriers, you may find something to like in this anime.

The Disappointing Factor

This anime is very uncomfortable. Naturally, the premise of an older man pursuing a teenager will not be something that a lot of people can just enjoy. The anime tries to make his advances seem endearing even though the very fundamentals of the show and the pairing are wrong on many levels. Aside from this, there is not much you can enjoy from the anime. It has a very flat animation style and not much else.

In-Depth Analysis

Koikimo is an anime that needs to be watched by completely taking the context and set-up away. It is an anime that relies on you to look at this and any other anime story, even though the practices and morals presented in the film are horrendous at best. So if you can take away the anime from real-world scenarios, you may not mind how the story progresses. But then again, it is tough to do so because the story follows an older man and a young teenage girl.

Star Power

Our leads in the film, Ryou Amakusa and Ichika Arima, are played by Toshiyuki Toyonaga and Yurie Kozakai, respectively. Toshiyuki Toyonaga has voice acted in anime such as Free! Dive to the Future-Soushun no Build-up!, Duel Masters, B: The Beginning, Yuri!! On Ice and so many more. Yurie Kozakai is best known for her roles in anime such as Edens Zero, Horimiya, Jashin-chan Dropkick’, and so many more.

Overall Opinion

It is challenging to get over the premise of this anime, and it requires you to get over it to enjoy it even more. If you can do that, then maybe you can watch this anime. But if you cannot, there are plenty of romance anime out there. You can tell a much more exciting story without being so creepy and pushy.
