The series follows the daily life of the Shuchiin Academy’s competitive student council.  Council president Miyuki Shirogane and Vice President Kaguya Shinomiya try to trick one another in order to get a romantic confession out of the other. Apart from this, Kaguya struggles with her upbringing as she tries to escape the confines of her wealth and break from her uptight nature as she tries to get along with Shirogane and her friends at the academy. Meanwhile, Yuu Ishigami who is the council treasurer fosters a crush on Tsubame Koyasu- an upperclassmen that helps him boost his confidence. Miko Iino, the newest member of the student council grows closer to Ishigami who is a rebel and struggles to stick to her high moral code. The romantic shenanigans of the student council involve their classmates in the comedic conflicts on a daily basis.

The Feel-Good Part

The characters in the show are excellent. There are a lot of new introductions to the original cast, which is a good change as each of them adds a new and unique touch to the show while keeping the core of the dynamics that have continued since the first season. The jokes and comedic element of the series land extremely well. Each gag is different from the previous one and brings out a new layer in the respective characters from time to time. The original soundtrack is fantastic and suits the show well. The animation sets the show apart as it uses its visuals very well. There are visual gags that are expressed through the animation, which is fun to watch. The story is paced consistently and remains entertaining throughout. The progression of the plot and characters feel natural and flow smoothly, which is intriguing to watch.

The Disappointing Factor

The episodes come off as formulaic as it follows the narrative structure very strongly, without wavering too much from it. This may get boring for some people as they may feel like the episodes are repetitive. Some viewers may also feel like the characters haven’t grown too much as their growth is relatively slow and more seamless.

Kaguya Sama is a beloved anime in the romance and comedy genre. It’s safe to say that the third season does not disappoint. This season builds on its previous seasons by adding more depth to its characters as well as introducing new dynamics, which will keep the audience hooked to the show.

It is well written and executed with care, which is why it is highly recommended by a lot of people. It manages to entertain throughout and give the audience a balanced dose of comedy and romance. The quality, like the previous season manages to be consistent. It is by far, one of the best anime series releases this year.
