Drama digest:

This series is about students trying to make it big in the acting and idol industry,  which portrays many girls from different walks of life with different backgrounds whore trying to succeed in the industry.

The feel-good factor:

The art style of the show is unique. The colors used are very bright and pleasant. The show is an excellent mixture of comedy, tragedy, mental health, realism, and ‘womance’ between the two female leads. The biggest thing the show did was portray the dark reality of the entertainment industry through the girls. Emotions on the show are so raw that even the audience can feel them through the screen.

The disappointing factor:

Some characters seem too complex to understand. Also, it portrays some amount of sexual assault, stalking, and similar matters, which might make some viewers uncomfortable.

In-depth analysis:

Kageki shoujo tells the story of a 16-year-old girl named Sarasa Watanabe, who has always dreamed of becoming an idol and an actress for an all-girls troupe. She has prior study experience in playing Sukeroku and kabuki lessons. She has sought admission to the infamous Kouka school of music and theatrical arts. The kouka school is well known for its famous female artist students, produced over time. Sarasa is a friendly girl with a bubbly and helpful personality. There’s another girl named Ai Narita, a former idol who was expelled from her group because she believed in men being untrustworthy. Taking this reason into consideration, she joins the kouka school as well, as it’s an all-girls school and she will never have to come across many men. Both have to compete against each other to rise at the top of their game to become famous artists like they dream of being. Both become roommates soon after and find each other annoying. They try to adjust anyway with each other to succeed in their respective endeavors.

Star power:

Both the main female leads are the stars of the show because, it is through them that some sensitive issues have been shown and addressed to the entire society. They have two different personalities but refuse to leave each other’s side no matter what.

Overall opinion:

Overall, this show is an excellent delivery to the audience. It has a great blend of everything and it portrays realism on an effective scale. It can be considered a must-watch.
