Drama Digest
The third season of Golden Kamuy is back with 12 exciting new episodes. In continuation with the previous season, this anime is back right where it left off. It continues the story from the point where the group has been separated into fractions while they journey to find the gold. Sugimoto and Asirpa are divided at the end of last season and are in separate groups. And through this season, we find out if they can find Asirpa’s father and get the code that will lead them to the hidden gold.
The Feel-Good Part
The most exciting part of this anime is that it is an adventure series set in historical times. The characters introduced before were further explored, and the setups of the previous seasons concerning the mystery pay off. The historical background gives context to the character’s actions and the environment in which they are functioning. It uses many actual historical trivia and cultural backgrounds. And it also sheds light on the cultural practices of the Japanese Ainu people. The storyline is well-paced and makes good use of its runtime. It transitions very smoothly from action to comedy. The humor is well done and balanced. And it stays faithful to the core quest of finding the treasure while throwing in twists and other relevant plotlines in the mix from time to time.
The Disappointing Factor
Some CGI work of a few characters has gotten flak due to being poor. But it has otherwise been up to mark later on. There are very few women characters in the whole anime.
In-Depth Analysis
The entire team split into two, and the series follows them separately for some episodes. The viewers can witness the new dynamics within Sugimoto’s party, and the development of characters through the seasons is admirable. In particular, this season focuses on if Sugimoto will be able to reunite with Asirpa and find the treasure in the process. It is exciting to dissect why all the characters hope to secure the gold for themselves. And what they are willing to do for it.
The variety of characters in the series is used to put forth a complex relationship equation. And give rise to exciting interactions. The side quests are fun to watch while focusing on the primary storyline. And the action is exciting and in conjecture with the storyline intense when needed. Each separate teams on the quest encounter different scenarios and meet various people on their way. From Russian couples to tribes, all those on the search need to fulfill specific tasks or take help to continue their journey. There are so many characters on the same journey, and it is interesting to watch and compare their progress.
Star Power
All the voice actors from the earlier season have reprised their roles. They convey the emotions of the characters delightfully. And also have dialogues in Ainu and Russian.
Overall Opinion
Golden Kamuy is an enjoyable anime that improves with every season. With remarkable plot and animation, it builds a fantastical world this season.
